Fun Facts about Riley: The 2020 National High School Rodeo Association champion has taken the tie-down roping world by storm. He qualified for his first Wrangler National Finals last year and earned the Resistol Rookie of the Year title. He blew into 2023 with big wins in the building rodeos, including Houston. That gave him a head start for the 2023 season. By August, he had set a new regular-season earnings record beating Shad Mayfield’s $203,000 from last year. He went on to increase that with an $18,000 win at the Washington State Fair Rodeo in Puyallup and enters his second NFR with $280,405, ahead of Mayfield by $74,000. After last year’s NFR, he and his family left Las Vegas immediately after the 10th round, drove home to Denton and within 24 hours he was trying out a new horse. His success this year comes because of that horse and with a new determination to look at every single run individually, not worry about the standings and just do his very best. He’s been working towards this all of his life. His parents, Dirk and Jennifer Webb produce roping events and have passed their tools on to Riley. Their number one tool in the toolbox is a strong faith that relies on God for everything.
