Fun facts about Coy: His progression to being one of the best team ropers in the world came with a lot of hard work, mentors and a supportive family. Growing up in Southeastern Missouri, there were opportunities to rope, especially with a father that roped. Before Coy was old enough to compete, he would stand at the window and watch his dad. He now spends a lot of time with world champion Paul Eaves who is also a native of the Show Me State. Coy started roping with Douglas Rich last March. The partnership had some rough patches but finished strong earning enough at the Pro Rodeo Tour Finale in Salinas, California to get them both to the WNFR. Coy is the youngest contestant in this year’s field and set an arena record at the National High School Finals Rodeo in 2019 with a 4.0-second run.
