Fun Facts about Kendal: This ranch-raised cowgirl is taking the breakaway roping world by the horns. She won the National High School Finals Rodeo in 2021 and then went on to win the first-ever Canadian Championship. She repeated the Canadian title in 2022 and this year her focus was on qualifying for the NFBR and with a solid September push she did just that. She won $7,980 in Canada missing this year’s Canadian Finals Rodeo by five spots. But she went in support of her sister who was trick riding there. She started competing on her horse, Kendals Smokin Gun, “Smoke” when she was in the ninth grade in school. She rode him in barrels, pole bending and team roping. Now he is her go-to breakaway horse. She keeps her horses in shape at home riding them to check cows. She dreamed about competing at the Canadian Finals Rodeo when she was younger and thought she would have to qualify in team roping to accomplish that. Then they added breakaway. The best advice she ever got was, “Be where your feet are,” don’t get ahead of yourself or focus on the past.
