Fun Facts about Rickie: She might have had the biggest cheering section at last year’s NFBR and it’s likely grown since then. Rickie will be entering her second NFBR with a new last name. She married Rhett Fanning, a PRCA saddle bronc rider who also team ropes. They are both native South Dakotans who have relocated to Texas where the weather makes it easier to train horses. Rickie qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo representing Tarleton State University at Stephenville and that’s where they live now. She and her siblings, Taylor and Jace, grew up competing and training their own horses. She will have two of those horses with her in Las Vegas, Lavaca Sting “Rollo,” who is a seasoned veteran, and Oke Coulours, “Copper.” Her challenge in competing is to get out of trainer mode and into competition mode, a lesson she has learned quite well.
