PUEBLO, Colo. – From the Country Music Television Music Awards red carpet on Wednesday night, J.B. Mauney confirmed that he will compete in the PBR’s Touring Pro Division event at Santa Barbara’s Fiesta Stock Horse Show & Rodeo on Thursday, July 31, and take on Bushwacker in a special $25,000 bonus round.

This will be the 13th time the World Champions have met and the second time in 2014 that Mauney has faced his nemesis. He’s tried to replicate his historic ride of August 17, 2013 – which ended Bushwacker’s record buckoff streak of 42 consecutive Built Ford Tough Series riders – three times since that fateful day, but without success. Mauney’s last attempt was in Oklahoma City earlier this year during the World Champion Bull’s first appearance in 2014. However, Mauney lasted only 1.13 seconds.

To see if Mauney can defy the odds and make the 8-second mark upon Bushwacker for the second time in his career, fans will have to tune-in to the only place to watch the matchup – PBR LIVE on pbr.com. Starting at 10:30 p.m. ET on July 31, all the action from the Santa Barbara TPD event will be streamed live on pbr.com. Fans can visit PBR LIVE now to sign up for this exclusive broadcast.

Bushwacker has been a perfect 8-0 so far in 2014. He has bucked off the likes of Mauney, PBR world standings leader Guilherme Marchi, Markus Mariluch – the first man to ride Bushwacker in the PBR (2009) – L.J. Jenkins and Nathan Schaper. He also made short work of Joao Ricardo Vieira in the Bad Boy Mowers Million Dollar Ride during the Dr Pepper Iron Cowboy V at AT&T Stadium this past March.

Before Bushwacker meets Mauney in July, however, he’ll take on reigning PRCA bull riding champion J.W. Harris on Friday, June 13, at the DCB PBR Bull Riding Challenge in Bismarck, North Dakota. This matchup, which is worth $100,000 to Harris for a successful 8-second performance, will also be streamed live on PBR LIVE at 8:30 p.m. CT.

The Fiesta Stock Horse Show & Rodeo in Santa Barbara will be Bushwacker’s last competition during the Built Ford Tough Series’ summer break. The event will take place at the Earl Warren Showgrounds and starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling 805-688-5093.

Bushwacker will return to BFTS competition in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Aug. 15 -16 for the Express Employment Professionals Classic.
