PUEBLO, Colo. – The BlueDef Velocity Tour stopped in Cincinnati on Saturday night where Josh Faircloth (Randleman, North Carolina) used an 88.5-point ride in the long go and an 87-point ride in the short go to take his third victory on the Touring Pro Division this year. Faircloth took home a $3,910.78 paycheck for his efforts.

All five of the top riders were able to cover both their bulls. Eli Vastbinder (Statesville, North Carolina) rode for 87 and 83 points to take second place and $2,920.96. Chad Vanamburg (Archdale, North Carolina), Brandon Davis (Medina, Ohio) and Amos Yoder (Zearing, Iowa) finished third through fifth with 81, 80 and 70.5 points, respectively.

At the Midland GMC Invitational in Midland, Texas, Dave Mason(Snyder, Texas) and Jordan Hupp (Stephenville, Texas) tied for first with 86 points as Mason rode his bull in the long round and Hupp rode his bull in the short go. Mason earned $3,075.30, while Hupp came away with $4,100.40 after winning $1,708.50 as the only rider to cover his bull in the short go.

Per TPD rules, a bull rider may enter a TPD event as many times as he chooses; some riders have been known to enter two or even three times, so Mason’s second entry and an 85.5-point ride gave him third place and another $1,708.50. Codey Schneider (Amarillo, Texas) and Budd Willimson (Ayr, Australia) tied for fourth with 84 points and $702.38.

In Guthrie, Oklahoma, at the American Heritage Derby, a pair of 86.5-point rides allowed Colorado native Clayton Mattarocci (Pueblo, Colorado) and Schneider to share the top of the leaderboard as each walked away with $5,005.79 after two days of riding. Timmy Vaughan (Pleasant Hill, Missouri) finished in third with an 86-point ride and $2,570.54.

Kasey Hayes (Liberal, Kansas) and Stetson Lawrence (Williston, North Dakota) were two riders that had an abundance of confidence after putting forth two of the most impressive rides of their respective careers for event victories on separate nights at the DCB PBR Bull Riding Challenge in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Hayes conquered another one of the PBR’s rankest bulls on Friday when he rode the full eight seconds atop Fire & Smoke (Dakota Rodeo-Berger/Struve Bulls) for a career-high 94 points and the event win.

It was the third time this year Hayes was able to take down one the rankest bulls in the PBR. He had previously covered Mississippi Hippy (K-C Bucking Bulls/Sparklin Acres/Blythe Cattle) for 88.5 points in Des Moines, Iowa, and Shepherd Hills Tested (D&H Cattle Co.) for 91.5 points in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Fire & Smoke had only been ridden once this year, previously by Fabiano Vieira (Perola, Brazil).

J.W. Harris (May, Texas) and Vieira both put up 90-point rides, but they weren’t enough to overtake Hayes in the top spot. Harris rode to an 88-point score on Bully Pulpit (Dakota Rodeo-Berger/Struve Bulls) during Round 1, before tallying 91.5 points on Cowtown Slinger (Dakota Rodeo-Berger/Struve Bulls) in the championship round. Vieira had 82 points in the long round and then tied Harris in the short go by riding Apollo Stripes for 91.5 points.

Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas) and Markus Mariluch (Elko, Nevada) rounded out the Top-5 in the event average with 170.5 and 162 points, respectively.

Lawrence is coming off three event wins in the past four weeks. On Saturday, he knocked Cody Nance (Paris, Tennessee) from the top of the leaderboard by putting up 92 points on Cowtown Slinger, a career-high. Lawrence beat out Nance’s 91-point ride on Twitter This (Dakota Rodeo-Berger/Struve Bulls) in the championship round, finishing with 179 points to Nance’s 178.

It was the second consecutive weekend Lawrence had posted a 90-plus-point ride, beginning with 91 points on Chocolate Thunder (Bird Rodeo Co.) last week in Belt, Montana.

Ben Jones (Goulburn, New South Wales), Dakota Louis (Browning, Montana) and Lee were the rest of the Top-5 on the second night with 176, 175 and 172 points, respectively.

Lee finished outside of first place for just the second time in his last six events.

During the DCB PBR Bull Riding Challenge, fans got the opportunity of seeing a top rider go up against a top bull. J.W. Harris was given the chance to ride the PBR’s two-time World Champion Bull Bushwacker (Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls) for $100,000. Harris entered the bonus round against Bushwacker after having tallied an 88-point and a 91.5-point ride during the Friday night event. Four seconds later and the rankest bull in the PBR dumped Harris and notched his 16th consecutive buckoff.

On June 20-21 there are five different TPD events going on throughout the country. On Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21, at the RMEF Big Bull Tour Lesschwab Tires Chute Out in Lewiston, Idaho, Jory Markiss (Missoula, Montana), Matt Triplett (Columbia Falls, Montana) and Dakota Beck (Moses Lake, Washington) will compete at the Lewiston Round-up Grounds.

At the Binford Rodeo Grounds on Saturday, Lawrence, Chase Outlaw (Hamburg, Arkansas), and Guytin Tsosie (Burnham, New Mexico) will participate in the Binford Bull Riding Event in Binford, North Dakota, while J.W. Harris, Mike Lee and Gage Gay (Staley, North Carolina) will highlight the Big Country PBR event at the Taylor County Coliseum in Abilene, Texas, that same night.

Also on Saturday at the San Antonio PBR event in San Antonio, Texas, Ryan McConnel (Coalgate, Oklahoma) will be one of 13 riders participating in the one-day event, while on Sunday, June 22, at the Cedar Park Center in Cedar Park, Texas, Hayes, Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Oklahoma) and Sean Willingham (Summerville, Georgia) will be just a few riders from the BFTS to make their second appearance in as many days in the state of Texas.
