Kiddie Kapers Parade Kicks Off Several Kid Friendly Big Week Events

Family Fun Starts this Weekend

SALINAS, CA, July 11, 2017 – The 87th annual Kiddie Kapers Parade will take place Saturday July 15th at 6:30pm in Old Town Salinas. Approximately 1,200 children parade down the street during one of the most beloved Big Week traditions that kicks off the California Rodeo Salinas. No pre-registration is necessary; just show up and check in at the Salinas Recreational Center at 320 Lincoln Avenue starting at 5pm on July 15th. The theme this year is ‘Kids Just Wanna Have Fun.’ The parade is presented by The Salinas Californian and more information can be found at www.carodeo.com/events/2017/kiddie-kapers-parade.

The California Rodeo Carnival opens on July 14th and runs daily 3pm to 11pm until July 23rd. It is located at 295 Sun Way in Salinas, not at the Salinas Sports Complex. Admission is only $3.00 and an unlimited ride pass can be purchased for $30.00. Parking is $5.00.

The McDonald’s/Fresh Express Kids Corral is open daily during the California Rodeo Salinas July 20th-23rd. This family friendly area is full of activities for kids and opens at 5pm on Thursday and Friday and at 11am on Saturday and Sunday. Dress the kids in their best pink outfits on Thursday July 20th for Wrangler Tough Enough to Wear Pink night presented by Rabobank. The Stick Horse Race, presented by Black Bear Diner, for children ages 3-8 takes place at 4:30pm on the track with preliminary races and the finals take place during the performance that night (after 6:30pm). There is also an autograph party following the first three performances and before the fourth and final performance of the California Rodeo Salinas. Kids can get signature, meet Rodeo Clowns and Bullfighters and other stars. Free posters are distributed and the event is sponsored by SafetEquip.
