Ames Starts CNFR on a Roll

Sheridan College bareback rider Chance Ames won the regional bareback riding title this year and is off to a fine start at the College National Finals Rodeo having earned points for his team in both rounds. He’ll get on his third horse Thursday but was in front of the Casper Events Center opening night crowd in a special capacity. Ames was chosen recipient of the Walt Garrison Award which will be a big financial boost for Chance at school. He’s been tough as rawhide per usual riding bucking horses (his first-round ride is included at the end of this video) in Casper and not one to talk about the sudden death of his 74-year-old father in late April although he shared a few thoughts last night. CNFR announcers Andy Seiler and Boyd Polhamus led the award ceremony with National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Commissioner Roger Walters presenting the award.
