SCORE BULLETIN – PLAYOFF NIGHT ONE

Team Las Vegas Survives Wildcard Game One in Sioux Falls, Moves On to Playoff Day Two

Team Las Vegas: 0 points

Team Boot Barn: 0 points

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – As PBR (Professional Bull Riders) welcomed fans back into the arena to the first live sporting event since mid-March in Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, Game One of the Monster Energy Team Challenge Playoffs ended in a 0-0 tie. Team Las Vegas and Team Boot Barn went head-to-head on the dirt, but were flattened by a raucous pen of bulls, who jerked and whipped and violently flung all eight cowboys over 14 outs, turning in 10 bull scores of more than 43 points. Team Las Vegas (4-2-1) will move on to Playoff Day Two Saturday based upon its regular season aggregate score, keeping its Monster Energy Team Challenge Championship hopes alive. After the loss, Team Boot Barn (3-2-2) headed to a consolation game for fifth place. Team Las Vegas moves on to play Division B No. 1 seed Team Pendleton Whisky tomorrow, Saturday, July 11. The winner of that game will secure a berth in the Monster Energy Team Challenge Championship.

“The bull power is the same it was in Vegas,” said Team Las Vegas Captain Stetson Wright.
“I just didn’t show up ready tonight obviously. But luckily my team rode good coming in during the regular season and we are moving on.”

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Led by 2016 World Champion Cooper Davis (Jasper, Texas), Team Ariat defeated Team Can-Am on Playoff Night One to keep its Monster Energy Team Championship hopes alive. With the first ride of Playoff Night One of PBR’s groundbreaking team tournament, Team Ariat Captain Davis covered Evil Intentions (Jane Clark/Gene Owen) for 85.25 points in the first half. Tyler Bingham (Tremonton, Utah) locked up the win for Team Ariat with an 87.5-point trip aboard Nailed (Kruger Bucking Bulls) in the second half. Team Can-Am refused to go quietly into the night, avoiding the shutout when Mauricio Gula Moreira (Gaviao, Brazil) posted the highest score of the game, 88.25 points on Black Rose (Kruger Bucking Bulls). After the loss, Team Can-Am (3-4) moved to the fifth-place consolation game later Friday night. Team Ariat’s win brought its tournament record to 5-1-1, earning a matchup with No. 1 seed Team Cooper Tires tomorrow, Saturday, July 11 for a berth in the Monster Energy Team Challenge Championship game.

“There was a lot of pressure on tonight,” said Team Ariat Captain Cooper Davis. “We needed to step up and make something happen. Luckily I covered my bull, Tyler made it happen too and we got a big win.”

“I expected to ride tonight. I was disappointed when I came off the first one,” said Team Ariat rider Tyler Bingham. “But I got the second one done. Our team pulled together and won this game.”
