The California Rodeo Salinas Offers Many Children’s Activities

SALINAS, CA – The California Rodeo Salinas welcomes children of all ages to participate in one of the many events geared toward kids. This Sunday, the Kiddie Kapers Parade takes place in the Salinas City Center at 3pm. The parade will assemble at the Salinas Recreation Center on Lincoln Avenue then start at Salinas and San Luis Streets and loop around to Main Street, Gabilan Street, up Alisal Street and back to Lincoln. No pre-registration is required and there are multiple categories to participate in. The parade is presented by Sakata Seed America. The Rodeo’s mascot, Dude, will be at the Kiddie Kapers parade and at the California Rodeo Salinas each night/day. Dude is a giant cowboy hat with sunglasses, a mustache, belt and buckle; photo opportunities are available.
Western Actors will perform rope tricks and more Thursday through Sunday on the Doctors on Duty Stage near the Rodeo statue on the north end of the mid-way.
The California Rodeo’s Stick Horse Race is presented by Black Bear Diner at 4:30pm on Thursday, September 23rd. Register children to participate starting at 4pm near the McDonald’s Kids Corral. Participants will be divided into age groups of 3-4-, 5-6- & 7–8-year-olds. The finalists in each age group will compete in the performance which starts at 6pm. The Mutton Busting contestants have already been selected, but children will enjoy watching their peers ride sheep on the track daily. The Mutton Busting is presented by Pacific Valley Bank.
The Rodeo’s Autograph Party is presented by SAFETEQUIP daily after each Rodeo performance. Children can get the signatures of top cowboys and cowgirls, bullfighters and more on the track. Rodeo tickets start at just $11 for children ages 2 and up and include entry into the mid-way, Kids Corral and a seat to watch the Rodeo performance which will feature trick riding by the Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls (https://www.carodeo.com/events/2021/riata-ranch-cowboy-girls-trick-riding) daily along with Rodeo Entertainer Matt Merritt (https://www.carodeo.com/events/2021/matt-merritt-rodeo-entertainer). The evening performances feature finale fireworks.
