#InCaseYouMissedIt: Davis Wins in Billings as World Title Race Heats Up

By: Darci Miller

We’ve only got three Unleash The Beast events left before the PBR World Finals on May 12-21 in Fort Worth, Texas, and Cooper Davis just made the world title race interesting. Very, very interesting. Plus, Lucas Divino made a strong return to the premier series, we learned more about two of the PBR’s longest-tenured fan favorites and more. Miss a moment of the action this weekend? Here’s what happened around the PBR.

On the Unleash The Beast…

2016 World Champion Cooper Davis wants to remind you he’s still very much alive in the fight for another world title. In Billings, Montana, this weekend, Davis went 3-for-4 for his second event win of the season, moving him back up to No. 4 in the Unleash The Beast standings.

Davis started the weekend with a bang, winning Round 1 with his 88.75-point ride on Taylor’s Cowtown Throwdown.

Davis notched another ride in Round 2, as did Lucas Divino, who was making his season debut on the UTB following an injury at the PBR Team Series Championship that kept him out of action since November.

It was also a big weekend for up-and-comer Brady Turgeon. The 19-year-old won Round 2 with the first 90-point ride of his PBR career.

Trivia question: who are both from Montana, worked their first PBR World Finals in 1997, and started their professional careers on the same day in the same place? (Answer: entertainer Flint Rasmussen and photographer Andy Watson.)

Meanwhile, on the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour…

As the only rider to go 2-for-2, Patterson Starcher took the win in front of a sold-out crowd in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

In the Touring Pro Division…

Wingson Henrique da Silva notched the first win of his PBR career at the PBR Stockyards Showcase in Fort Worth, Texas.
