Michael Lane Wins Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Event in Reading, Pennsylvania

READING, Pa. – When the dust settled after two electric nights of competition in Reading, Pennsylvania, Michael Lane (Tazewell, Virginia) emerged as the supreme competitor, winning the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour’s PBR Reading.

For Lane, the winningest rider on the Velocity Tour, the victory marks his ninth on PBR’s expansion series.

As the action got underway in Round 1 inside Santander Arena, Lane was quick to strike, covering Coolio (C-B Bucking Bulls) for 85.5 points.

While he began Championship Saturday tied for fourth on the event leaderboard, he quickly took over the top spot when he won Round 2 with an 85-point effort atop Game Day (C-B Bucking Bulls).

Lane was bested by Country Club (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls) in the championship round, tossed in 4.07 seconds, but his opening two scores proved enough to clinch him the event win.

Compliments of the golden finish, Lane earned 123.5 Velocity Global points in the race to be crowned the 2024 PBR Velocity Tour Champion.

Tyler Manor (Portland, Indiana) was second.

Manor’s 84.5-point ride on Eyes On Me (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls) and 77.5-point trip atop Blaze (J Bar W) garnered him 73 Velocity Global points.

Round 1 winner Hunter Ball (Carsonville, Michigan) was third.

Going 1-for-3, Ball netted 64 Velocity Global points via his event-best 88.5-point ride on Flashbang (GN Livestock & Bucking Bulls/Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls).

The Michigan native also finished ninth courtesy of a double entry, earning an additional 22 Velocity Global points for his 83.5-point ride on Joker (Lucy E Rodeo) in Round 2.

Returning to the top of the event leaderboard, defending PBR Reading event winner Grayson Cole (New Ringgold, Pennsylvania) and Brandon Chambers (Newport, North Carolina) rounded out the Top 5, tying for fourth.

Both Cole, who rides for the Florida Freedom in the separate PBR Teams league, and Chambers went 1-for-3, delivering 86.5-point rides in Round 1 to earn 36.5 Velocity Global points.

Pennsylvania’s own Cole rode Grande Patron (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls), and Chambers topped Game Day.

Looking down the event leaderboard, the Keystone State’s Cody McCandless (Derry, Pennsylvania) tied for seventh alongside Jake Morinec (Mokena, Illinois). Each rider logged 84-point scores in Round 1 to collect 18 Velocity Global points.

McCandless rode Bottoms Up (J Bar W), and Morinec converted on Risky Business (J Bar W).

In the bull pen, Country Club, Retro Maniac (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls) and Shazam (Dave Martin/Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) bucked a cut above the rest, tying for the Bull of the Event honor, each marked 44 points.

Country Club posted the top marks after tossing Justin Ethridge (Buford, Georgia) in 1.59 seconds in Round 1. Out in Round 2, Retro Maniac bucked off Michael Phillips (Waynesburg, Pennsylvania) in 4.41 seconds. Shazam completed the trio, earning his top score when he upended Dustin Martinez (Canjilon, New Mexico) in 2.28 seconds in the championship round.

The PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour next travels to Youngstown, Ohio, on Feb. 16-17 and Memphis, Tennessee, on Feb. 17.

Boot Barn PBR Youngstown at Covelli Centre gets underway on Friday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m. EST and concludes on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. EST. PBR Memphis at FedExForum begins on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. CST.
