Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Returns to North Charleston, South Carolina Feb. 3-4

By: Kacie Albert

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – For the fifth time in the sport’s history, PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour will buck into North Charleston, South Carolina, returning to North Charleston Coliseum on February 13-14 with the PBR Collision at The Coliseum.

For two nights only, some of the best bull riders in the world will battle the sport’s rankest bovine athletes in the ultimate showdown of man vs. beast in one of the most exciting live sporting events to witness.

During the 2023 season, the PBR will celebrate its 30th anniversary since 20 cowboys broke away from the traditional rodeo with the belief that bull riding could be a standalone sport. Since their trailblazing initiative, the PBR has grown into a global phenomenon awarding nearly $300 million in prize money.

The upcoming PBR Collision at The Coliseum will mark the ninth event of the new individual season for the PBR’s expansion series. Eventgoers will watch on as riders vie for crucial points in the race to be crowned the 2023 PBR Velocity Tour Champion.

When the PBR last travelled to North Charleston in January 2022, Michael Lane (Tazewell, Virginia) delivered a flawless 3-for-3 performance inside North Charleston Coliseum to win the PBR Collision at The Coliseum.

Lane registered his first qualified ride of the season in Round 1, bringing the Palmetto State crowd to its feet when he covered Flint Rock (Lightning Livestock, Inc.) for 85 points. The grizzled veteran then surged to the top of the event leaderboard when he tied for second in Round 2, courtesy of his 87.5-point ride atop Rock Solid’s Hickory (Rock Solid Bucking Bulls/Dizzy).

The Virginia native then took on Oreo (Dustin Denning) as the last man to erupt from the chutes in the championship round, matching the animal athlete jump-for-jump en route to an event-winning, 89-point score.

For his golden finish, Lane earned a crucial 41.5 world points. After beginning the event ranked No. 144 in the world, Lane jumped to No. 46 in the world.

Other past PBR Collision at The Coliseum event winners include Jesse Petri (2021), Alex Cerqueira (2020) and Tye Chandler (2018).

The bull riding action for the PBR Collision at The Coliseum begins with Round 1 at 8:00 p.m. ET on Friday, February 3, followed by Round 2 and the championship round at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 4. All 45 competing bull riders will get on one bull each in Round 1. The Top 30 riders from Round 1 will advance to Round 2 Saturday evening. The riders’ individual two-round scores will be totaled, with the Top 15 advancing to the championship round for one more out and a chance at the event title.

Tickets for the two-day event go on sale Friday, September 23 at 10:00 a.m. ET, and start at $15, taxes and fees not included. Tickets can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com and PBR.com, at the North Charleston Coliseum Box Office or by calling PBR customer service at 1-800-732-1727.
