Team Ariat Keeps Rolling, Playoff Race Tightens in Division B at Monster Energy Team Challenge

Lucas Divino and Newcomer Boudreaux Campbell Go 2-for-2 for Team Pendleton Whisky in Five-Ride Win

LAS VEGAS –Team Pendleton Whisky dominated its bovine competition during Game One of Challenge Day 10 of PBR’s new team tournament, in a crushing 411.75-88.25 victory over Team Cat and setting a scoring record for the new team tournament in going a record-breaking 5-for-6. Pendleton’s leader Lucas Divino (Nova Crixas Goias, Brazil) turned in a perfect 2-for-2 performance, covering Twinkle Toes (Kruger Bucking Bulls) for 69.25 points in the first half, and then bested Jaynettes Pet 2 (4B Bucking Bulls) for a big 86.25-points in the second half, putting the game out of reach for Team Cat. Boudreaux Campbell (Crockett, Texas), a new addition to Team Pendleton Whisky this week, and proved to be a big addition for GM Justin McBride. Campbell also went a perfect 2-for-2 in his debut, besting Losing My Religion (Kruger Bucking Bulls) for 87.25 points in his first out, and he took care of business aboard Little Okie (4B Bucking Bulls) to the tune of 85 points in the second half. Another newcomer added the lone ride for Team Cat. Alex Cerqueira (Iguatemi Mato Grosso, Brazil) turned in an 88.25-point ride on Nailed (Kruger Bucking Bulls), the high-marked ride of the first game of the final weekend of the PBR Monster Energy Team Challenge. Team Pendleton Whisky improved to 3-1, while Team Cat dropped to 0-4 and was eliminated from contention for championship weekend in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

“I’m so proud right now,” said Pendleton Whisky Team Captain Marco Eguchi post game. “I know Boudreaux [Campbell] and he rides good, even on a tough bull like tonight. I’m proud of him already for what he’s done here.”

“I just blocked everything out once I got in there,” said Boudreaux Campbell after his perfect performance. “I knew my bull was going to be tough, and it’s all bull riding when you get down in the chute, I am just glad I could get it done for my teammates.”

LAS VEGAS – Another Week Four new rider addition stole the show tonight during Game Two of Challenge Day 10 at PBR’s new team tournament, the Monster Energy Team Challenge presented by U.S. Border Patrol. Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas) participated in his first game Friday night at South Point Arena in Las Vegas, and turned in a perfect day’s work for surging Team Boot Barn. Alvidrez started the night off with an 87-point trip aboard Heartaches & Grease (Stockyards/Pritchett Ranch/Melton Bull Co.), the high-marked ride of the game, and finished by conquering Red Snapper (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) for 83 points. The 2-for-2 performance was punctuated by Team Boot Barn’s Captain, Daylon Swearingen (Piffard, New York) who beat Saint Joe (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Heald Pro Bulls) for 84.5 points to slam the door and secure the win, three bulls to two. 2019 PBR Rookie of the Year Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) got his weekend off on the right foot for Team Lucas Oil, mounting Ribbon of Darkness (Melton Bull Co.) for the 8, riding to an 84.5-point mark. Veteran and fan-favorite Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Oklahoma) also added to his MVP efforts for Team Lucas Oil, going 1-for-2 with an 83.25-point ride on Bullfrog (Stockyards/Chad Boen/Melton Bull Co.). The 254.5-167.75 victory leap frogs Team Boot Barn over Team Lucas Oil in the Division B standings, with both needing big wins in the weekend’s two remaining games to get to Sioux Falls for championship weekend, ranked fourth and fifth respectively. The top three teams from Division B will advance to the PBR Monster Energy Team Challenge playoff weekend in South Dakota.

“I let a really nice one get away from me in the first half,” said Team Boot Barn Captain Daylon Swearingen. “I wasn’t going to let it happen on the second one. Tomorrow against Team Ariat we can’t make those mistakes.”

“Chatting with J.B. [Mauney] this week gave me so much more respect for him,” noted Team Boot Barn rider Andrew Alvidrez. “He just knows so much about bull riding. I have so much respect for him and am glad he’s our General Manager.”

Team Ariat Continues Winning Ways Against Team South Point to Secure Spot in Sioux Falls

LAS VEGAS – Division B front runner Team Ariat locked up the first playoff spot for Division B on Friday night in shutting out then-second-place Team South Point 258.5-0. The last remaining undefeated team in Division B, Team Ariat once again rallied behind another perfect 2-for-2 performance from young Australian Ky Hamilton (Mackay, Queensland, Australia). The Division B MVP leader, Hamilton conquered Mortimer (Julio Moreno/Dallas Schott) for 86.5 points in the first half, and rode Sniper (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) for another 84.25 points in the second half. Team Ariat Captain Cooper Davis (Jasper, Texas) added another notch to his belt as well when he made the 8 on Marquis Metal Works Draggin Up (Paradigm Bull Co./Marquis Metal Works) for 87.75 points. Team South Point was blanked on the scoreboard for the first time in the loss, dropping to 2-3. The win secured Team Ariat’s spot for championship weekend in Sioux Falls July 20-12, propelling them to a perfect 4-0. Team Cooper Tires finished Division A action a perfect 6-0 and is the tournament’s only other undefeated team.

“Riding my first bull here just told me I could do it,” said Team Ariat rookie Ky Hamilton. “I’ve just been putting the other ones down since then.”

“Took a tough fall there at the end. Three bulls is a lot in a short time, and I got the best one at the end,” said a winded Team Ariat Captain Cooper Davis. “I’m just a little tired, but we’ll be back tomorrow night. I’m glad tonight it worked out for us.”
