Weekend Roundup in WPRA
Shelley Morgan and HR Famekissantell made quick work of the cloverleaf pattern at the rescheduled Guymon (Oklahoma) Pioneer Days Rodeo during slack on Wednesday, August 19. The rodeo traditionally takes place the first weekend of May but due to COVID-19 was rescheduled for the fourth weekend in August for 2020.
Morgan and Kiss stopped the clock in 17.11 seconds with Michelle Alley coming the closest to Morgan’s time stopping the clock in 17.25 seconds. With the win the Eustace, Texas, barrel racer added $3,995 to her 2020 ProRodeo World Standings and is currently ranked seventh with $49,498.
“This girl just doing what she loves and doing a dang good job at it!” wrote Morgan on her Facebook page about her horse Kiss following their run in Guymon. “I love you with my whole heart sweet Kiss. She has been home for a couple of weeks, getting pampered and loved on and apparently she liked it!”
Morgan last qualified for the Wrangler NFR in 2009 and her recent win in Guymon has her full steam ahead to the 2020 Wrangler NFR wherever it may be. After competing in Guymon, Morgan rode another mare in her barn, Phoebe, to a third place finish in Mesquite with a 15.23 and won $441. Jordon Briggs took the win in Mesquite in a time of 15.18 seconds, good for a $597 payday.
Italy Sheehan had a profitable weekend in Burley, Idaho, winning the barrel racing title with a time of 16.91 seconds, just ahead of Tiany Schuster and Cheyenne Wimberley with 16.95 and 16.96-second runs, respectively. Sheehan added $2,700 to her bank account. Lari Dee Guy took the breakaway roping victory lap in Burley stopping the clock in 2.5 seconds good for a $2,050 payday.
Christina Mulford continues to dominate the landscape in Woodstown, N.J. This past weekend (August 22) she won the title with a run of 17.30 seconds. Since July 4th, Mulford has finished atop the leaderboard six out of eight weeks with her fastest run coming on August 8th with a 16.95-second run.
