By the Numbers: PBR Cooper Tires Invitational, Presented by Ariat, at Lazy E Arena

PUEBLO, Colo. – World leader Jose Vitor Leme won his PBR-leading fourth event of the season with a flawless 3-for-3 showing at the PBR Cooper Tires Invitational, presented by Ariat, at the Lazy E Arena.

Leme now has a season-high 235-point lead atop the world standings on No. 2 and reigning World Champion Jess Lockwood. Lockwood is not expected to return to competition until the middle of September as he continues to recover from surgery on his left hamstring.

Here is a by-the-numbers look at the PBR Cooper Tires Invitational

235: Leme is the only rider this season to have a triple-digit lead in the world standings, and his 235-point lead on Lockwood is his largest lead in 2020.

In comparison, in last year’s points system, this would be the equivalent of a lead of an estimated 900 points. The most Leme led by in 2019 was 821.66 points.

 
21.13%: Leme has 26 90-point rides in his premier series career since debuting at the 2017 PBR World Finals with a dominant 6-for-6 performance. His 90-point ride on I’m Legit Too was his 26th 90 and 123rd qualified ride on the UTB. He is recording 90-point rides at a 21.13% clip. Two-time World Champion Chris Shivers owns the PBR record with 94 90-point rides. Shivers had a 90-point conversion rate of 22.82%.

413: Three-time World Champion Silvano Alves has the fifth-most qualified rides in PBR history with 413. Alves passed Shivers (412) on the list when he rode Newsom for 84.25 points in Round 2 on Sunday.

31: Number of positions 2012 PRCA champion Cody Teel jumped in the world standings with his 2-for-3, second-place finish. Teel entered the event down to his final guaranteed exemption before riding Danny Boy for 86.25 points in Round 2 and Milk Man for 89.75 points in the championship round. Teel, who missed two months because of torn right knee ligaments dating back to the 2019 World Finals, is now 3-for-4 against Milk Man in his career.

7.83: Dalton Kasel has nearly ridden three-time World Champion SweetPro’s Bruiser in their two matchups, lasting an average of 7.83 seconds. This past weekend’s 7.97-second buckoff on the final out of the event was the second heartbreak for Kasel against Bruiser. Last season, Kasel nearly won the Music City Knockout in Nashville, Tennessee, and over $100,000, when Bruiser bucked him off in 7.7 seconds at the PBR Major.

Kasel did win his first round of 2020 earlier in the event Sunday when he rode Soup in a Group for 90.75 points. The 2019 Rookie of the Year finished third overall in Guthrie this weekend, and he earned 59.5 world points to move to No. 44 in the world standings after groin injuries have limited him throughout the first half.

 
7: Rising Sun has helped a rider win a round on the premier series or Global Cup seven times in the past two seasons. Stetson Lawrence won his second round of 2020 when he converted on Rising Sun for 87.75 points to split Round 1 with Lucas Divino on Saturday night.

16: Total round wins in 2020 by Leme and Lockwood, whom are tied for the most in the PBR on the Unleash The Beast. Only seven other riders have won two or more rounds on the premier series in 2020. Lawrence and Divino earned their second round wins this weekend.

3.33: Average number of seconds riders have lasted aboard No. 1 YETI World Champion Bull contender Air Support. The 5-year-old bucked off Mauricio Moreira in 3.23 seconds Sunday in the championship round. Air Support is 12-0 at all levels of competition.
