Fun Facts about J.B.: His injury list is almost as long as his win list and the two-time PBR world champion added to both this year. He had the time of his life, traveling around the U.S. with his wife, Samantha, and son, Jagger, going to rodeos this year. His success as a bull rider was confirmed as he accomplished his goal of qualifying for the WNFR. That also came with a price. He scored 90 points on the final bull that he rode in Fort Madison, Iowa, on September 9. His dismount wasn’t very good and he landed in front of the bull and got stepped on. That resulted in a lacerated kidney and he missed the remainder of the regular season. The good news for Mauney and his fans — he had already won enough money to make the trip to Las Vegas in December. Samantha has been there in the barrel racing and when J.B. married her, he married into a cowboy family. Her father is Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer, Phil Lyne who won the WNFR championships in bull riding and tie-down roping in 1972. J.B. and Dale Brisby are competing with bucking bulls with a JBDB partnership.
