Fun Facts about Tanner: His rise to becoming one of the best team roping headers in the world has been nearly meteoric. The 2020 Resistol Rookie of the Year qualified for his first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in 2022 with Patrick Smith. Together, they also won the overall title at the NFR for having the fastest total time on 10 head. That was worth a record of $199,727 in NFR earnings. Smith has continued to support Tomlinson’s world champion goals and the duo roped together all of the 2023 and will be defending their championship from last year. When he’s not roping, or horseback, Tanner likes to saltwater fish. His home in Angleton is less than an hour from the Gulf of Mexico, so he can go catch something, bring it home and have it for dinner.
