WEATHER GUARD PRCA World Standings Watch: Standings Shuffle – 31 Cowboys Move Up
With $969,396 up for grabs between 23 PRCA rodeos across North America this past week, 31 cowboys saw their position improve within the WEATHER GUARD® PRCA World Standings’ Top 15.
Nobody knows this better than steer wrestler Will Lummus and team roping header Lane Ivy as both cowboys moved up five spots – Lummus from 17th to 12th, and Ivy from 21st to 16th.
Veteran and rookie cowboys alike know it’s easier to maintain a position at the top than it is to play catch-up when trying to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Polaris RANGER.It’s important to build a solid lead as the summer season heats up.
Having four rodeos with six-figure payoffs this week proved to be a major boost as cowboys competed for $161,029 in Estes Park, Colo., $122,152 in Vernal, Utah, $108,137 in Spooner, Wis., and $103,916 in Hamel, Minn.
The following cowboys saw their position in the world standings improve between July 5 and July 11.
• Will Lummus moved from 17th to 12th in steer wrestling.
• Lane Ivy moved from 21st to 16th in team roping heading.
• Trevor Reiste moved from 13th to 10th in bull riding.
• Sterling Crawley moved from 11th to seventh in saddle bronc riding.
• Layton Green moved from 12th to eighth in saddle bronc riding.
• Evan Jayne moved from ninth to seventh in bareback riding.
• Jeremy Buhler moved from 13th to 11th in team roping heeling.
• Orin Larsen moved from 14th to 12th in bareback riding.
• Westyn Hughes moved from 16th to 14th in tie-down roping.
• Cory Kidd V moved from 17th to 15th in team roping heading.
• Guthrie Murray moved from 17th to 15th in bull riding.
• Kaleb Driggers moved from second to first in team roping heading.
• Erich Rogers moved from third to second in team roping heading.
• Vin Fisher Jr. moved from third to second in steer roping.
• Jake Brown moved from fourth to third in bareback riding.
• Jesse Wright moved from sixth to fifth in saddle bronc riding.
• Tanner Milan moved from seventh to sixth in steer wrestling.
• J. Tom Fisher moved from seventh to sixth in steer roping.
• Brennon Eldred moved from seventh to sixth in bull riding.
• Russell Cardoza moved from eighth to seventh in team roping heeling.
• Scott Guenthner moved from 10th to ninth in steer wrestling.
• Levi Simpson moved from 10th to ninth in team roping heading.
• Buddy Hawkins II moved from 10th to ninth in team roping heeling.
• Justin Miller moved from 11th to 10th in bareback riding.
• Marcus Theriot moved from 13th to 12th in team roping heading.
• Clayton Hass moved from 14th to 13th in steer wrestling.
• Cole Melancon moved from 14th to 13th in bull riding.
• Shay Good moved from 15th to 14th in steer roping.
• Mason Clements moved from 16th to 15th in bareback riding.
• John Robertson moved from 16th to 15th in team roping heeling.
• Garrett Hale moved from 16th to 15th in steer roping.
With the Central Wyoming Fair & Rodeo in Casper, Wyo., and the Sheridan WYO Rodeo underway, and many more big rodeos on the horizon, the outcomes of these rodeos and others are sure to impact the world standings, and possibly give a glimpse at who will compete at the 2017 Wrangler NFR.
