GREENSBORO, N.C. – Young gun Cannon Cravens (Porum, Oklahoma) earned his way to the 25th PBR: Unleash The Beast, Cooper Tires Take the Money and Ride by winning a PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) event and capitalized greatly on the opportunity during Round 1 of the two-day event at Greensboro Coliseum.

With a ride that brought the crowd to its feet, Cravens went the full 8 seconds aboard Reign Lashes Testified (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/T-Ray Bulls/Paradigm Bulls/Rockin T Ranch), who had only been ridden once before when Marco Eguchi (Sao Paulo, Brazil) conquered him in Kansas City back in February.

Cravens, in his first-ever premier series event, won the round with a score of 88.75 and earned 100 points towards the PBR World Standings.

“I don’t know what to say,” Cravens said. “When I jumped off his back, I was just excited to get that first bull rode. I wasn’t even thinking about the score.”

With that ride, the 18-year-old jumped up 10 spots in the world rankings, going from No. 61 to 51.

With a second-place finish in the round, Montana man Matt Triplett (Columbia Falls) moved up four spots in the world standings, going from No. 27 to No. 23 with the first ride of the night.

Triplett went 87.25 points aboard Shark Bait (Rickey West Bucking Bulls/2R Bucking Bulls) to earn 60 world points.

Hot on the comeback trail, Chase Outlaw rode his second bull since returning to the premier series tour after facial reconstructive surgery in July. The Hamburg, Arkansas, cowboy rode Black Cat (Gold Spur Ranch) to an impressive 86.75 points for a third-place finish.

He earned a much-needed 50 points towards the world standings as he is still on the hunt to qualify for his seventh PBR World Finals. Outlaw moved up six spots from No. 67 to 61.

Fourth place went to Luciano De Castro (Guzolandia, Brazil) who covered Heavy D (Paradigm Bucking Bulls) for 85.75 points. He earned 40 points towards the world standings and continues to try and close the gap on No. 1 Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil). As the No. 4 man in the world, Castro is just over 1,800 points behind his countryman.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Cody Teel (Kuntze, Texas) and North Carolina native J.B. Mauney (Statesville) who each tied with equal 85.25-point scores.

Mauney rode Pogo (EJ Cattle Co.) before Teel covered Mr. Miller (Ronnie Chism Farm & Ranch), each earning 22.5 points towards the world standings. Teel is still in the Top 10 at No. 8 while two-time World Champion Mauney is 34th.

Tomorrow in Greensboro at 1:45 p.m. the world’s best cowboys will again get on one more bull before the Top 15 rides of the weekend compete in the championship round.
