Bringin’ the Heat Rull Riding Dedicated to Contractor’s Biggest Fans

CBR Horizon Series

Nothing reminds me of why I welcome fall more than the 7th Annual Bringin’ the Heat Horizon Series bull riding produced by J.C. Knapp Rodeo Company and held at his arena in Mansfield, Texas on Saturday, November 11 at 6 pm.

“We have fireworks after each qualified ride and a big show after the event…we are happy and blessed to be doing what we love and hope everyone will come on out for a fun family friendly event again this year,” said Knapp.

Sometime after sampling Knapp’s world famous beef brisket, but before the extreme pyrotechnic fireworks, high profile bull riders will be in loaded inside Knapp’s chutes honing their skills and staying in shape before heading to the National Final Rodeo in Las Vegas in December. Knapp’s ability to attract and showcase great buckers for the two round event is known to bring in top ranked bull riders.

Speaking of smoking hot, six time World Champion bull rider Sage Kimzey confirmed he will be bringing his own style of warmth to this year’s event as he continues to practice and prepare before heading to Vegas chasing his fourth PRCA World Championship gold buckle at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

Kimzey is the reigning CBR and PRCA World Champion and has won somewhere near two million dollars riding bulls.

Kimzey, who is familiar with Knapp’s bulls on the CBR’s televised Road to Cheyenne tour, rode Knapp’s headliner and short round bull, 128 Uptown Funk, for 86 points in Del Rio last April at the George Paul Memorial and will be gunning for a second chance to get on Knapp’s favorite bucker next week.

Kimzey will be challenged by a field of Horizon and Road to Cheyenne tour competitors including 2017 National High School Rodeo Champ and CBR World Standings #3, Trey Holston, top ten fireball Matt Palmer, and younger brother Trey Kimzey – just to name a few already signed up on the entry list.

In addition to the great bulls and high profile bull riders, J.C. and his wife Amber take care of two details bull riding fans love, great merchandise and great food. Each year I look forward to adding to my favorite T shirt collection from six years of this great event. Amber works hard to produce high quality long sleeved tees that are always great fashion statements and cool color combinations and they last forever.

While Amber is folding tee shirts, J.C. is tending to the BBQ pit where the smell of BBQ brisket overwhelms the smells of the bucking bull pens.

Missing from this year’s event is 2015 CBR Bucking Bull of the year CR Corpus Red who was retired last season, but there is no doubt J.C. Knapp has lined up great buckers in his place. The two round format will feature an open bull team competition with thirteen teams competing. The long round will be twenty six outs followed by the JC Knapp bucking bulls short round where the anchor of the Knapp’s bull pens, 128 Uptown Funk, will lead the way. Knapp will have his regular CBR string in the short round plus a few youngsters he is getting seasoned for next year’s Road to Cheyenne.

This year’s Bringin’ the Heat Bull Riding is dedicated to the memory of two of the Knapp’s biggest fans who recently lost their lives. Michael and Cody Albright, the nephews of Amber Albright Knapp and J.C., both lost their lives, ten months apart, in alcohol related car accidents. It is the wish of the Knapp and Albright families that this heartbreaking loss can raise awareness and prevent any further harm and fatalities involving when drinking and driving.

J.C. Knapp is a veteran stock contractor and owner of the 2015 CBR Bucking Bull of the year, CR Corpus Red. Bringin’ The Heat Bull Riding is dedicated to the memory of Michael Chase Albright and Cody Lynn Albright.
