Championship Bull Riding Brings Western Entertainment Tradition to Huron

The Red Wilk Construction Bull Bash Presented by the South Dakota State Fair

HURON, South Dakota, – August 7, 2017 – Championship Bull Riding (CBR) announced today the details of the Road to Cheyenne tour’s season opener on Wednesday, August 30, in Huron, South Dakota. This year marks the fourteenth time CBR’s comes to Huron and the three rounds of adrenaline rush season opener will begin at 8 p.m. both nights and the CBR Red Wilk Construction Bull Bush will once again be the lead grandstand event at the South Dakota State Fair in Huron on August 30 and August 31. At the heart of the Bull Bash will be Red Wilk’s American Hero Award ceremony, at an extraordinary intermission rite honoring veterans of Viet Nam, Dessert Storm, Freedom, and Global War on Terrorism, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Attorney General Marty Jackley will be presenting the awards on Wednesday night followed by United States Senator Mike Rounds presenting on Thursday evening and Mayor Paul Awlward.

CBR will bring 24 of the best bull riders in the country and pit them against the top bulls on tour to kick off their 2017-18 Road to Cheyenne nationwide televised tour and for the fourteenth consecutive year CBR selected the South Dakota State Fair as their first event for the new season.

The Red Wilk Construction CBR Bull Bash presented by the South Dakota State Fair will begin on August 30 at 8 PM with the CBR Horizon Series Cheyenne Challenge event which will include a long round and a bounty bull worth $10,000 to the bull rider if he can hang on for eight seconds. Thursday night’s lineup will follow the CBR’s three round tournament style format which is popular with fans as it allows them to see their favorite riders challenge as many as three bulls in one night as they progress to the $30,000 pot at the end of the rainbow.

Four time World Champion Bull Rider and Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer Tuff Hedeman will be the CBR Chute Boss ensuring each rider and bull has a fair shot at the money. The event will feature multiple World Champion bull riders and Hedeman traditionally invites a hometown bull rider to take on the CBR’s field of 24 elite bull riders. Their competition – the top bulls on the CBR tour including several World Champion bovine athletes.

In town for the annual top tiered athletic competition this year will be CBR World Champion Bull of the Year, 911 Hy Test who bucking with Jared Allen’s Pro Bull Team and competing in the CBR Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge competition. The competition is also part of the CBR Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge and this year the fans are invited to follow along the $45,000 competition among the bulls that is held simultaneously during the Bull Bash. Each bull team brings three bulls that are featured during the first two rounds of competition each night. Those bulls receive points for their performance in the arena and are combined with the ride time of the bull rider for the aggregate bull score. At the end of the night, the owner with the three highest-scoring bulls as a team will receive the $20,000 first place check.

CBR is known for their action-packed performances that keep fans on the edge of their seats. From having great bulls matched up with super star riders, to upbeat music and enthusiastic fans, the CBR Bull Bash will be second to none.

Immediately following the bull riding, fans will get a chance to meet and get autographs from the CBR Bullfighters and champion bull riders of the CBR.
