Cody Campbell Wins BlueDEF Tour Event in Albany

ALBANY, NY – Cody Campbell (Summerville, Oregon) earned his first PBR (Professional Bull Riders) event win with a 2-for-2 performance in Albany, New York, at Times Union Center on Saturday night. The victory was Campbell’s first ever win on the PBR’s BlueDEF Tour (BDT).

Campbell earned the Round 1 win with an 86-point ride on The Summit (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls). He then capped the victory off with a tie in the championship round riding Black Powder (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 86.5-points. Campbell took home $7,150 for the performance.

Campbell earned 80 points toward the PBR world standings as well as an invitation to the DeWALT Flexvolt Invitational in Nampa, Idaho, on Oct. 7-8. Campbell last made his way onto the PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) in 2013. Winners of each 2016 BlueDEF Tour event will be guaranteed a minimum of one opportunity to compete at a BFTS regular-season event.

Jay Miller (Liberty, South Carolina) finished in second place after he led most of Round 1 with his 85.5-point on Holley Holy (Painted Pony Championship Rodeo). Miller tallied 86 points on Mishap (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) to finish third in the championship round. Miller earned 50 points toward the world standings along with $5,000.

Third place went to Eric Lee (Adrian, Michigan) who also rode both his bulls on Saturday night. He first covered XD Sports Soul Patch (Soggy Hill Cattle Co.) for 84 points in Round 1 before tying for the win the championship round with 86.5 points on Jacked Up (J Bar W Ranch). Lee earned 30 points toward the world standings.

Fourth place went to Juliano da Silva (Eloi Mendes, Brazil) who also covered both bulls with 83.5 points on Hicktown (Triple R Bull Co.) in Round 1 and 82 points on Nefarious (BMC Bucking Bulls/Jeff Robinson) in the championship round. With the finish da Silva earned 20 points toward the world standings.

Brady Sims (Holt, Missouri) and Alexandre Cardozo (Indaiatuba, Brazil) finished in fifth and sixth place, earning 15 and 10 points respectively. Sims covered Turbo (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) in Round 1 for 85 points, while Cardozo put up 82.5 points on Slilber Knocker (J Bar W Ranch), also in Round 1.

Albany was the 28th event of the 2016 BlueDEF Tour. The season will culminate with the 2016 BlueDEF Finals taking place Oct. 29-31 at South Point Arena in Las Vegas. The 2016 BlueDEF Champion, the rider who earns the most world points throughout the 2016 BDT season including the BlueDEF Finals, will receive $50,000 and qualify to compete at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals Nov. 2-6 down the strip at T-Mobile Arena.
