ANAHEIM, Calif. – After an action-packed two days in front of record crowds in Anaheim, Cody Nance (Paris, Tennessee) collected his first PBR (Professional Bull Riders) elite series win since the 2014 season at The PBR 25th: Unleash The Beast, Anaheim Invitational.

Nance went 3-for-3 over the two days and clenched the victory with an 88.75-point ride on 2017 World Champion Bucking Bull SweetPro’s Bruiser (D&H Cattle Co/Buck Cattle Co.) on the final out of the night to win the championship round. With the win, the Tennessee cowboy earned 513.33 world points, launching him from No. 61 in the world to No. 9, and collecting a paycheck of $34,166.67.

“You know that bull is going to challenge you,” said Nance. “You ride him like any other bull, jump for jump. I tried hard, maintained my focus, and it worked out.”

Claudio Montanha Jr. (Ribeirao dos Indios, Brazil) finished second over the weekend also with a 3-for-3 performance, taking him from No. 6 to No. 2 in the world standings. A mere 129.17 points is all that stands between the young cowboy and world leader Dener Barbosa (Paulo de Faria, Brazil). The sold-out arena erupted as Montanha Jr. rode Catfish John (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Miller) for 90 points in the championship round. For his efforts, Castro earned 353.33 points toward the world standings and $18,416.67.

Barbosa, who entered the weekend atop the world leaderboard, secured a third-place finish after he too was perfect at the Honda Center. The Brazilian cowboy covered Mudshark (D&H Cattle Co/Bob & Jeri Adams) in Saturday night’s championship round for 89.25 points. He earned another 245 points toward the world standings along with $11,400.

North Dakota native Stetson Lawrence (Williston, North Dakota) went 2-for-3 to finish in fourth place. After sharing Friday night’s Round 1 win with Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Oklahoma), he went on to cover Wild Goose (D&H Cattle Co/Buck Cattle) for the weekend’s first 90-point ride. Lawrence picked up 225 world points and a $12,715 paycheck.

Rounding out the Top 5 was three-time World Champion Silvano Alves(Pilar do Sul, Brazil), who dominated Wicked Stick (Dakota Rodeo/ Chad Berger/Clay Struve/H&C Bucking Bulls) during the championship round, taking home 135 world points and $4,640.

The YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event was Spotted Demon (Julio Moreno/Dallas Schott), who dispatched Brennon Eldred (Sulphur, Oklahoma) before he reached 8 seconds.

Action from Round 2 can be seen in its entirety on PBR.com/OnDemand starting at 8 a.m. ET on Sunday, February 4. The Championship Round will be on CBS National Television on Sunday, February 4 at 12 p.m. ET or on PBR.com/OnDemand starting on Monday, February 5 at 8a.m. ET.

The Top 35 bull riders in the world will now head to Kansas City, Missouri, for the Caterpillar Classic at the Sprint Center Feb. 10-11.

In other PBR action this weekend, Colten Jesse (Konawa, Oklahoma) took the buckle at the PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) Grand Rapids Classic Saturday night at the Van Andel Arena.

Jesse scored 87 points aboard Suspicious (C Check Bucking Bulls) in Round 1 before earning 89.5 points on Stand Up (Dakota Rodeo / Chad Berger / Clay Struve) in the championship round.  He earned 120 points toward the world standings, $7,900 and an invite to the Winstar World Casino & Resort Iron Cowboy, powered by Kawasaki, in Arlington, Texas.
