NASHVILLE – It came down to two young guns in Nashville as Cooper Davis and current PBR (Professional Bull Riders) world standings leader Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil) battled head-to-head in front of over 14,000 fans during the Frontier Communications Music City Knockout, presented by Cooper Tires, and brought to fans locally by Sonic. Davis reached 4.21 seconds on Pearl Harbor (Dakota Rodeo/Berger-Struve), which was enough to outlast Pacheco and win the final PBR Major of the season Saturday night at Bridgestone Arena

Davis picked up 905 world points and jumped from eighth to third in the world standings. Davis’ win is his first Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) event win of the season and his biggest since winning last season’s PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals event title.

“You know what, I’ve had heck all day, I got by some really good ones today,” Davis said. “When I came down on Who Dey (K-C Bucking Bulls), I thought I was done, but it worked out.”

The 22-year-old from Jasper, Texas, now trails Pacheco by 390.33 points in the world standings.

“It’s all about points and you have to take it one event at a time,” Davis said. “We got a chance at a world title.”

Pacheco managed to reach 2.54 seconds on Jared Allen’s Air Time in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round, but he ultimately came up just short, finishing second in the head-to-head style event. Pacheco picked up 500 points towards the world standings and maintains his hold on the No. 1 world ranking.

J.B. Mauney’s (Mooresville, North Carolina) 3-for-4 performance earned him the Ride Score Championship and 300 points toward the world standings. Mauney’s 90.25-point ride on Texicali (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owens) in Round 2 was the highest score of the tournament and helped him secure the ride score title. Mauney, who is still second in the world standings, now trails Pacheco by 160.33 points after earning 455 total world points in Nashville.

The PBR’s best now move on to Tulsa, Oklahoma’s, BOK Center for the Tulsa Express Employment Professional Classic, presented by Osage Casino on August 27-28.

The Music City Knockout was be the 17th event on the 2016 PBR BFTS schedule. The season consists of 26 stops, traveling to such cities as Chicago, New York, Anaheim, California, and Dallas. It will climax with the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Nov. 2-6 when the 2016 PBR World Champion, the bull rider who earns the most world standings points during the season, will receive the coveted World Championship belt buckle and $1 million bonus.
