COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Oklahoma) continued his second-half push by winning Round 1 of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Rumble in the Rockies, presented by Cooper Tires, after an 87.5-point ride on Herbie Husker (Talbert & Anderjaska Bucking Bulls) Saturday night at Broadmoor World Arena.

Dirteater earned 100 points toward the PBR world standings with his fourth round win of the season, taking the early lead in the PBR’s home event. Dirteater is currently seventh in the world standings with five regular-season Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) events remaining until the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals on Nov. 2-6.

Rookie phenom Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) continued his late-season surge by taking second place in the round after an 87.25-point ride on Rebel Yell (Hadley Cattle Co.). Lockwood earned 60 world points and is holding steady at ninth place in the world standings.

2009 Rookie of the Year Cody Nance (Paris, Tennessee) placed third in Round 1, earning 50 points toward the world standings after turning in an 86-point trip aboard Slash (Flying V/D&H Cattle Co.).

Jorge Valdiviezo (La Mision, Mexico) earned a crucial 40 points toward the world standings after placing fourth in Round 1. Valdiviezo rode Bad Grandma (Ty Rinaldo TZ Bucking Bulls) for 85.75 points and moved to 31stin the world standings.

Joao Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Brazil) rounded out the Top 5 after an 84.25-point ride on Dirty Little Secret (Flying V/D&H Cattle Co.). Vieira picked up 30 points toward the world standings for the effort.

The Top 35 bull riders in the world will return Sunday afternoon for the conclusion of the Rumble in the Rockies. Each rider will face one more bull in Round 2 before the Top 15 in the event move on to the Built Ford Tough Championship Round, where the winner will be crowned.

The Rumble in the Rockies is one of the last stops on the 2016 PBR Built Ford Tough Series, which culminates with the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Nov. 2-6 at the new T-Mobile Arena. After five days of competition, the 2016 PBR World Champion, the bull rider who has earned the most PBR world standings points during the 2016 season, will be crowned and receive the coveted $10,000 World Championship belt buckle and a $1 million bonus.

The action will resume at 3:30 p.m. ET on PBR LIVE. CBS Sports Network will also air Round 2 and the championship round at 6 p.m. ET.

The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network – the home of the PBR – and networks around the world. According to Nielsen, the PBR has seen a 20 percent increase in viewership on CBS over the same events in 2015. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
