Five Riders Earn PBR Touring Pro Division Wins

PUEBLO, Colo. – At the PGG Independence Day Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Touring Pro Division (TPD) event in Pendleton, Oregon, Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) rider Cody Nance (Paris, Tennessee) took the victory, going 2-for-2 as he earned 60 points toward the world standings.

Nance tallied only 78 points in Round 1, but thanks to an 87.5-point ride in the championship round, he captured the win with 165.6 points overall in the aggregate. Nance took home $7,145.89 in earnings.

River Stephenson (Blackfoot, Idaho) finished in second place putting up 86.5 points in Round 1. Stephenson walked away with $5,291.23 while earning 30 world points. Ruger Piva (Challis, Idaho) took third place with an 86-point ride, earning $3,600.22 and 20 world points. In fourth place was Reese Cates (Monticello, Arkansas) off an 84.5-point ride for 15 world points and $2,509.44. Fifth place went to Cody Ford (Stanfield, Oregon) who had 83 points in Round 1 to earn five world points along with $938.24.

At the two-day Slick Rock Challenge event in Rocksprings, Texas, on July 3 and 4, Neil Holmes (Houston, Texas) notched the victory Friday at the Edwards County Fairgrounds. With 88.5 points in Round 1, he picked up 60 points toward the world standings as well as a paycheck of $3,280.15.

Cooper Davis, from Jasper, Texas, and Wallace Vieira de Oliveira (Goiania, Brazil) finished in a tie for second place with an 86 points each. They each earned 25 world points, while Davis walked away with $2,409.54 and Oliveira took home $2,013.82.

Simao da Silva (Coacatuba, Brazil), Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas) and Robson Aragao (Aracaju, Brazil) were the only other riders to cover their bulls as they finished in fourth, fifth and sixth place, respectively. Silva recorded an 85-point ride in Round 1 and earned $1,116.83 and 15 world points. Alvidrez collected $663.06 in earnings and 10 world points off an 82-point ride, while Aragao had a 79.5-point ride and earned $1,069.35 and five world points.

It was Oliveira’s 86.5 points in the championship round on Saturday, July 4, at the Slick Rock Challenge that gave him the victory as he walked away with first place, $4,419.77 and 60 world points.

Luis Blanco (Icanga, Brazil) and Silva were the only other riders to record rides on the night as they finished in second and third, respectively. Blanco had an 82.5-point ride in Round 1 as he earned 30 world points along with $3,079.22. Silva also rode in Round 1 with 79.5 points as he tallied 20 world points and $2,250.51.

At the Park Rapids PBR Bull Ride TPD event in Park Rapids, Minnesota, Cody Rodeo Tyler (Guthrie, Oklahoma) and Eric Lee (Adrian, Michigan) were the only two riders to cover their bulls in the championship round as Tyler edged out Lee for the victory with 170.5 aggregate points. He racked up ride scores of 86 points in Round 1, and 84.5 points in the championship round. Tyler walked away with $9,909.90 and 60 world points. Lee had an 83.5-point ride in Round 1 and then secured second place with 84 points in the championship round. He received a paycheck of $6,026.29 along with 30 world points.

Tyler used a second entry to tie in third place with Matt Werries(Jacksonville, Illinois) as each recorded a ride score of 85.5 points in Round 1. The two riders took home $3,347.94 and 17.5 world points apiece. Per TPD rules, a bull rider may enter an event as many times as he chooses. Some riders have been known to enter two, or even three times.

Fifth place went to Josh Faircloth (Randleman, North Carolina) with 85 points as he scored a paycheck of $1,526.66 and 10 world points.

On July 4 at the PBR TPD event Lancaster, California, Alex Guzman(Manteca, California) finished in first place by just half a point. Guzman recorded 83 points in Round 1 as Stephenson posted an 82.5-point ride in the same round.

Guzman earned a paycheck of $7,858.39 along with 60 world points, while Guzman walked away with $6,261.67 and 30 world points.

Guthrie Long (Odessa, Texas) used an 80-point effort in Round 1 to finish in third place for 20 world points and $4,664.94.

The Touring Pro Division will have just two stops this coming weekend. On Saturday, July 11, in Gonzales, Texas, at the J.B. Wells Arena. Riders including Brady Sims (Holt, Missouri), Cates and Holmes are expected to ride.

The Magnolia Center in Laurel, Mississippi, will welcome Gage Gay (Staley, North Carolina), Tyler Harr (Hazen, Arkansas) and Mason Lowe (Exter, Missouri) for the Bud Light Bull Madness on July 11.

At the Salinas BlueDEF Velocity event in Salinas, California, on Wednesday, July 15, Bonner Bolton (Odessa, Texas), Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas) and Matt Triplett (Columbia Falls, Montana) highlight some of the riders who will be competing.
