For the Record: Armstrong

Since 1957, some of the biggest names in professional rodeo have made the trip to Armstrong, British Columbia, for some northern exposure and a chance to win big at the IPE & Stampede Rodeo.

Saddle bronc rider Glen O’Neill’s 91-point ride from 2004 remains the highest scoring ride at the IPE & Stampede Rodeo. The 2002 world champion’s PRCA career netted $1.6 million in prize money from 1994 through 2005. The Australian native became the first contestant from outside North America to be inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 2014.

Armstrong’s biggest payout came in 2015 with $153,765. Cowboys will have a chance to win their share of the prize money and possibly set a record Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.
