For the Record: San Juan Capistrano

For what it lacks in history, it makes up for with fast times and high scores. The Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., is one of the few major PRCA rodeos that got its start in the 21st century.

Saddle bronc rider Tom McFarland holds the longest-standing record at the Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo with his 89-point ride on Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Thrill Ride in 2007. McFarland is a four-time qualifier for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (2003-04, 2006-07).

Since 2001, many of the biggest names in the PRCA have competed at San Juan Capistrano but only the best left their mark by setting a rodeo record. Cowboys will have a chance to win their share of the prize money and possibly set a record Aug. 25-26.
