Harris Takes Round 1 in Sioux Falls

Nearly 9,000 fans attended the first night of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) debut at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. J.W. Harris, the 2014 BFTS Rookie of the Year, rode Oyster Creek (Western Star Bucking Bulls) for 87.25 points Friday night to win Round 1 of the First PREMIER Bank PREMIER Bankcard Invitational.

“He’s what you want to get on every day,” Harris said about Oyster Creek. “Good practice bull, lots of timing and good up and down.” Harris collected 100 PBR world standings points for the Round 1 win.

Joao Ricardo Vieira posted 87 points atop Butchers Nightmare (Western Star Bucking Bulls) to place second in the round for 60 world standings points, while rookie Cooper Davis notched the first BFTS qualified ride of his career with 86.5 points on Flip Out (Rocking I Rodeo Co.) to earn 50 world standings points.

L.J. Jenkins and 2004 PBR World Champion Mike Lee rounded out the Top 5 of Round 1 with ride scores of 86.25 points and 86 points, respectively. Jenkins received 40 world standings points and Lee picked up 30 world standings points for their placings.

Round 2 and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round of the First PREMIER Bank PREMIER Bankcard Invitational takes place Saturday at 7 p.m. CT. CBS Sports Network will broadcast both rounds of competition on Sunday, March 15 at 10 p.m. ET. Fans can also watch each round of action in real-time on PBR LIVE at www.pbr.com/live.

Sioux Falls is the 11th of 27 stops on the 2015 PBR Built Ford Tough Series schedule. The season will culminate with the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 21-25 when the 2015 PBR World Champion, the bull rider who earns the most points during the 2015 season, will receive the coveted World Championship belt buckle and a $1 million bonus.

BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
