Joe Carbury Memorial Service

Calgary – The Calgary Stampede is joining the family and friends of Joe Carbury in a Celebration of Life this afternoon, Thursday October 26, 2017. Together we will say goodbye to the man behind the distinctive – even iconic – “Annnnd theeeey’re off!” that boomed through the speakers of the Stampede Grandstand for an incredible 45 years. Joe Carbury’s unique delivery as the announcer of the Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon Races made him not just the voice of the Calgary Stampede, but for many, the voice of Calgary.

During this emotional time, the Carbury family will not be available for interviews. Representatives and friends of Joe’s from the Calgary Stampede will be available to speak, as well as members of the extended chuckwagon and racing communities. To set up interviews prior to and following the service, please contact Calgary Stampede Communications Manager Kristina Barnes by email at kbarnes@calgarystampede.com or by phone at 403-585-4706.

*Please be advised that media cameras are not allowed within the chapel. Foster’s Garden Chapel requests that media cameras be set up in the green space across the street, in the Queen’s Park Cemetery, and any attending reporters seat themselves in the overflow area.
