Kody Lostroh Wins Touring Pro Division Event in Home State

Kody Lostroh claimed an event win in Colorado.


PUEBLO, Colo. – Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colorado), the 2009 Professional Bull Riders World Champion went from the Built Ford Tough Series event in Thackerville, Oklahoma, on Aug. 29-30, directly to a Touring Pro Division event in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, on Sunday, Aug. 31. After riding just one of his bulls in Thackerville, Lohstroh climbed atop Rocky Mountain Stanley (Hyland Cattle/Brookman Hyland Rodeo) at the Brent Romick Arena in the championship round ready for some redemption.

Rocky Mountain Stanley had been ridden only once in his last 15 outs, but Lostroh made it look easy, earning a score of 87 points for his ride. As the only rider to cover his bull in the championship round, Lostroh walked away the event winner, going 2-for-2 for 173.5 points and $5,205.23.

Derek Kolbaba (Walla Walla, Washington) put up 85 points in Round 1 to take second place for $2,528.58. Bonner Bolton (Gardendale, Texas) finished in third place with 83.5 points and a paycheck of $1,560.43.

At the 16th Annual Jerome Davis PBR Invitational, on Aug. 29-30 at the Davis Rodeo Ranch Arena in Archdale, North Carolina, Rooster McKeeman (Babson Park, Florida) tallied a 90.5-point ride in the championship round to walk away with first place. He finished with 176.5 points over the two rounds to take home $5,032.22.

Eli Vastbinder (Statesville, North Carolina) was the only other rider to go 2-for-2 in Archdale. He finished in second place with 158.5 points and took home $3,721.31. Brandon Chambers (Newport, North Carolina) earned the only other 90-plus-point ride with 91 points for a third-place finish and a paycheck of $2,790.98.

At the Bell County Expo Center on Aug. 30-31, Cooper Davis (Wharton, Texas) put up a winning 87.5-point ride in Round 1 to take the event win. He also captured a paycheck of $4,148.00.

Brian Titman (Richmond, Texas) and Jonathon Brown (Houston, Texas) tied for second place with equal 87-point rides and each took home $2,414.00. Hometown rider, Neil Holmes (Belton, Texas) was right behind them with 86 points to finish in third place for $1,156.00.

John Smith (Malta, Montana) received 86.5 points in Round 1 to take first place at the Clint Branger Invitational in Red Lodge, Montana, on Aug. 30. Smith walked away with a $3,317.94.

Ryan Prophet (Rigby, Idaho) finished in second place with an 85.5-point ride in the championship round. He took home $2,777.98, while Clint Johnson (Hines, Oregon) was the third-place finisher with 81.5 points and $1,723.77.

The PBR’s Touring Pro Division will take a week break before resuming action Sept. 8-9 at the RMEF Big Bull Tour in Pendleton, Oregon. Brant Atwood (Decatur, Texas), Luis Blanco (Irving, Texas) and Tyler Harr (Slovak, Arkansas) are a few of the riders that will be participating.
