SASKATOON, Saskatchewan – To culminate the most fiercely contended PBR Canada title race in history, Zane Lambert overcame a 500-point gap in the national standings, going 1-for-2 on the last night of the 2017 Monster Energy Tour Canadian Finals at the SaskTel Centre, to earn his second PBR Canada Championship.

The 31-year-old joins Aaron Roy (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan), who won the title in 2008, 2010 and 2012, as the only riders to earn multiple titles in PBR Canada history.

Lambert (Westbourne, Manitoba) also tied for the event victory with Edgar Durazo. Lambert is the first rider to win back-to-back PBR Canada Finals event titles.

The veteran bull rider began the night riding Crooked Nose for 87.5 points to win Round 2 and head into the championship round atop the event leaderboard.

Lambert bucked off Evil Genius in the final round, ending the Canadian Finals 2-for-3 after having ridden Finning Lil Shorty for 86 points in Round 1 Friday night.

The six-time PBR World Finals qualifier will now travel to Las Vegas for the Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour Finals on Oct. 28-30 at South Point Arena.

After earning 65 world points for his event win, Lambert is No. 47 in the world standings and is 125 points behind No.35 Lachlan Richardson (Gresford, Australia).

Despite being disqualified in Round 2 for a chute infraction, Durazo rode Herf in the championship round for 88 points to win the round and tie for the Finals victory. In Round 1 on Friday night, Durazo rode Heaven’s Basement for 85.5 points.

Logan Biever (Claresholm, Alberta) finished third at the event (30 world points) as one of two riders to go 2-for-2 Saturday night.

In Round 2, Biever rode Open Season for 85 points before making the 8 aboard Minion Stuart for 87 points in the championship round.

Overall he was 2-for-3 at the Saskatchewan event after bucking off Tykro Checkered Flag at the event’s opening round.

Juan Carlos Contreras (Huichapan, Hidalgo, Mexico) placed fourth for 20 world points. Contreras began the evening tying for second in Round 2 compliments of his 85-point ride Spot On. He was bucked off by Budadawabada in the championship round.

Friday night, Contreras rode Pop The Latch for 85 points in Round 1.

Coy Robbins (Camrose, Alberta) secured the 2017 PBR Canada Rookie of the Year title after riding Pozzy Time for 81 points in Round 2, propelling himself to a tie for fifth place in the event.

Robbins concluded his first PBR Canada season No. 20 in the standings, going 2-for-3 in Saskatoon after riding Grey Eyes for 86.5 points in Round 1.

Dakota Louis (Browning, Montana) tied with Robbins for fifth after riding both of his bulls on the last day of the Canadian Finals.

Louis rode Homeboy in Round 2 for 82.5 points and Pound The Alarm for 85 points in the championship round.

Centrifugal (R-Saga Ranch) earned top bull honors after putting up a bull score of 45.5 points for bucking off Brady Oleson in Round 2.

Next up in the PBR on Canadian soil is the inaugural PBR Global Cup in Edmonton, Alberta, at Rogers Place from Nov. 9-11.
