Lockwood Goes 3-for-3 to Win in West Virginia

WHEELING, West Virginia – Jess Lockwood captured the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) BlueDEF Tour (BDT) event victory Saturday night with a total score of 255.50 points inside WesBanco Arena.

Lockwood, a Montana native, went 3-for-3 and earned $6,200 after riding Up North (Creekbend Bucking Bulls) for 83.5 points in Round 1, Fast Talker (Davis Rodeo Ranch) for 86 points in Round 2, and Air Bender (Rockin S Ranch/Cornwell Bucking Bulls) for 86 points in the championship round.

Winners of each BDT event in 2016 will be guaranteed a minimum of one opportunity to compete at a Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) regular season event in an attempt to win enough points to rank among the Top-35 bull riders in the world and earn a spot on the elite tour. With the win, Lockwood qualifies to compete at the First Premier Bank/Premier Bank Card Invitational in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on April 1-3. Lockwood also earned 80 points toward the PBR World Standings.

In second place was Neil Holmes with a total score of 175.5 points, while Dakota Louis (171.5 points), Jordan Hupp (169.5 points), and Kade Alberty (167.5 points) rounded out the Top 5. Holmes earned 50 world standings points, Louis picked up 30 world standings points for the third-place finish. Hupp earned 20 world standings points for finishing fourth, and Alberty notched 15 world standings points for finishing fifth.

Uptown Funk (J Bar W Ranch) and King Buck (BMC Bucking Bulls/Jeff Robinson) tied for high-marked bull Saturday with a score of 44 points.Uptown Funk (J Bar W Ranch) bucked off Keyshawn Whitehorse in the first round in 2.63 seconds. King Buck (BMC Bucking Bulls/Jeff Robinson) was ridden by Holmes in the championship round.

The BlueDEF Tour, presented by Real Time Pain Relief, heads to Fresno, California, in two weeks. The event will take place at the SaveMart Center on Saturday, April 2, at 7 p.m. PT.

The BlueDEF Finals will take place at South Point Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 29-31, leading into the PBR 2016 Built Ford Tough World Finals. The winner of the BlueDEF Finals, the second- and third-place finishers, and the top international performer, along with the 2016 BlueDEF Tour Champion, will each qualify to compete at the PBR World Finals
