Lowe Wins Brendon Clark Invitational

NEWCASTLE, Australia – Chris Lowe took home the Montana Silversmith championship belt buckle during the eighth annual Brendon Clark Invitational Saturday night at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.

Lowe went 3-for-3 to just edge 2015 Built Ford Tough World Finals qualifierJustin Paton and 2015 PBR Rookie of the Year Kaique Pacheco for the prestigious event victory.

Lowe sealed the win by riding Devils Dance for 87.5 points on the final ride of the night to finish off the event that he began with a first-round winning 88.25 points on Cane Train.

He posted an 84.75-point ride in Round 2 earlier in the evening to enter the eight-man championship round leading the event.

However, Pacheco, who finished runner-up last weekend at the Troy Dunn Invitational, was the first man to cover all three of his bulls when he rodeEnemies Everywhere for 86.5 points.

Paton then leapfrogged Pacheco for the lead with an 87-point effort aboard Light Em Up before Lowe rallied for the win.

Rounding out the Top 5 in the event behind Lowe, Paton and Pacheco was Kurt Shepard and Cristiano Cunha.

Three-time World Champion Silvano Alves finished tied for sixth with PBR Australia leader Cody Heffernan courtesy of his 86.25-point ride on Big Bucks to win Round 2.

“It’s amazing just how many Australian’s are now actually not only following the sport nationally, but also internationally,” Young said. “It goes without saying that the Australian fans are extremely grateful that international PBR ambassadors – Silvano, Kaique, Cristiano, Cody (Ford) and Rubens (Barbosa) have taken the time to come and ride bulls for PBR fans down under.”
