BILOXI, Miss. – With only three rides left in the night, 2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi rode Butchers Nightmare for 87 points to win Round 1 of the Beau on Friday at Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Earning a total of 187 points for his finish, world No. 3 Marchi gained ground on world leader Joao Ricardo Vieira.
Vieira was unable to ride his opening-round bull, Wacey, but maintained a solid hold on the top position – ahead of No. 2 Fabiano Vieira, who was also scoreless on the night.
Chase Outlaw and Claudio Crisostomo each put up 86.5-point efforts to sit tied for first for the majority of the round, before Marchi put up the winning ride.
L.J. Jenkins picked up 86 points atop Hou’s Back to place fourth, while Sean Willingham and Kody Lostroh tied for fifth with 85.75-point efforts. Willingham, competing in his first event back after being out with injury for four months, conquered Jack Wagon, while Lostroh rode Air Up There.
Round 2 of the Battle at the Beau and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round will take place Saturday at 7 p.m. CT. The final rounds can be seen live on PBR LIVE at 8 p.m. ET at pbr.com/live, or on CBS Sport Network Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
