PHOENIX ― Three of the Professional Bull Riders Brazilian riders hold the top three spots after Round 1 of the Built Ford Tough Series Bass Pro Chute Out Saturday night at US Airways Center. Valdiron de Oliveiracovered C Note (Jeff Robinson/Triple C Bucking Bulls) for 87.75 points to win Round 1 in front of more than 8,700 enthusiastic fans.

“The Flying Brazilian” and 2010 World Champion Renato Nunes currently sits in second place after an 87.5-point effort atop his re-ride bull KISS Animalize (Jeff Robinson/B&M Bucking Bulls). Marco Eguchi rode Ranga(Jeff Robinson/B&M Bucking Bulls) for 86.75 points and third place.

Reigning World Champion J.B. Mauney currently holds the fourth spot with 86.50 points on Duck Butter (Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls), while Canadians Tanner Byrne and Ty Pozzobon are tied for fifth with 85.50-point rides on Speckled Ivory (Wolf Creek Cattle Co./Cantankerous) andWoody (Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls), respectively.

With his 84-point score on Pandora’s Pyxis (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls), 2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi reached an inconceivable milestone of 500 career qualified Built Ford Tough Series rides. No other rider in PBR history has earned close to that number. Currently ranked No. 1 in the world standings, it’s fairly certain he will continue adding to his career total and set a record that could stand for years.

Round 2 of the Bass Pro Chute Out and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round will take place Sunday afternoon starting at 2:50 p.m. These final rounds will air on CBS Sports Network at 8:30 p.m. ET.

The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network and networks around the world. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.

Phoenix is the 10th stop of 27 on the 2014 PBR Built Ford Tough Series schedule. The season kicked off Jan. 3-5 at Madison Square Garden in New York and will conclude at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 22-26 when the 2014 PBR World Champion, the bull rider who earns the most points during the 2014 season, will receive the coveted World Championship belt buckle and a $1 million bonus.
