NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A weekend crowd of more than 13,700 fans witnessed 22-year-old bull rider Chase Outlaw win his second Built Ford Tough Series event Saturday at Bridgestone Arena.
Trailing event leader Fabiano Vieira by just one point heading into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round of the Jack Daniel’s Invitational presented by Cooper Tires, Outlaw chose Mr. Bull for the final round.
With an 89.25-point effort atop the half-brother of Bushwacker, the Arkansas native had to wait until Vieira was bucked off by Smackdown before he could celebrate his victory. With 262 points overall, Outlaw walked away with $35,925 in earnings.
Two-time World Champion Silvano Alves placed second overall with 295.25 points, which included the high-marked ride of the event when he coveredRango for 92.25 points in the championship round.
Round 1 winner Markus Mariluch collected 179.75 points overall for a third-place finish, while Vieira took fourth with 173.25 points. Rookie Brady Simstook fifth place with 167.25 points to round out the Top 5.
2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi maintained his No. 1 spot in the world standings with just one ride on the weekend, as reigning PBR Rookie of the Year Joao Ricardo Vieira remains right on his heels, just 24.56 points behind Marchi.
Two-time PBR World Champion Bull Bushwacker and Mick E Mouse tied for the Salem National Lease High Marked Bull award with 46 points. Bushwacker earned the mark during the championship round as the two-time PBR World Champion Bull made quick work of Tennessee native Cody Nance, tossing him in 4.88 seconds. Mick E Mouse, meanwhile, took care of Matt Triplett.
The Built Ford Tough Series heads to Springfield, Missouri, next weekend for the PFIWestern.com Invitational presented by Bass Pro on Sept. 12-14, at the JQH Arena.
Round 3 and the championship round of the PFIWestern.com Invitational presented by Bass Pro will air on CBS Sports Network on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. ET.
