Mutton busting, after-party, merchandise just a few of the new features at Round-Up for fans
Red Bluff, Calif. (March 14, 2016) – The Red Bluff Round-Up stampedes into town next month, bringing cowboys and cowgirls, bucking broncs and bulls, and a whole bunch of new and exciting features.
The 95th edition of the Round-Up is April 15-17, and fans can expect new features to enhance their experience and make the entertainment even more fun-filled.
New this year is mutton busting, to be held on Friday, April 15 prior to that evening’s performance. Twelve mutton busters, ages four through seven, will ride sheep. Mutton busters may register through March 15 at Cornerstone Community Bank in Red Bluff. The participants will be randomly drawn and notified on the fifteenth. Also new this year will be the wild pony rides during each rodeo performance. Teams of three youth will attempt to ride a wild pony for two jumps in the fastest time possible. “It’s wild and western, and we think our Round-Up Fans will love it,” said James Miller, Round-Up General Manager.
Another new event for fans this year is the After-Party on Friday, April 15. Chad Bushnell will be in concert following the rodeo on April 15 at the Tyler Jelly Building on the Tehama District Fairgrounds. Tickets are $10 and a cash bar is available.
The Budweiser Clydesdales return to wow fans during the rodeo, and the Wells Fargo stagecoach will be in the parade on Sat., April 16 and at the rodeo the same day. The country music group “Exile” will be in concert on Saturday evening. Tickets are not yet available for the concert.
Red Bluff Round-Up merchandise has expanded this year, to include not only t-shirts but hoodies, stemless wine glasses, pint glasses, and coffee cups. It can be purchased online and at the rodeo.
For the safety of fans, all bags will be checked at the gate as fans enter; no alcohol, videotaping or big cameras will be allowed. “We want to keep things safe for our fans,” Miller said.
Food Maxx, one of the April 15 day sponsors, will offer discounted tickets at its Red Bluff location. Food Maxx, along with Tri-County Bank, is a Friday performance sponsor. Saturday’s sponsors are Yeti Coolers and Wells Fargo, and Sunday’s sponsors are Dignity Health and Haleakala Ranch.
Rodeo tickets are on sale online at RedBluffRoundup.com, and Miller reports that tickets have been sold to people as far east as Maryland, and to visitors from Sweden and Switzerland.
The 2016 Red Bluff Round-Up is April 15-17, with performances at 7:30 pm on Fri., April 15, at 2:30 pm on Sat., April 16 and at 1:30 pm on Sunday, April 17. Tickets range in price from $14 to $26. A handling fee is added to tickets purchased online. Tickets can also be purchased at the Red Bluff Round-Up office.
