Registration Deadline Approaches for 2016 Miss Reno Rodeo Pageant

Application Deadline is April 15

RENO, Nev. (March 31, 2016) – The Reno Rodeo is looking for Miss Reno Rodeo candidates who have a love for horses and rodeo culture and want to travel while serving as a goodwill ambassador to the “Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West.” The application deadline is Friday, April 15. Registration is open to young ladies in the Reno area ages 18-24.

The pageant takes place Thursday and Friday, June 9 and 10 at various locations in Reno and contestants will be judged on their equine knowledge in a written test, horsemanship skills and one-on-one interview with the judges. The final coronation ceremony will be held at the Peppermill Friday evening, June 9, where the winner will be crowned Miss Reno Rodeo 2017.

Reigning Miss Reno Rodeo, Eva Werschky, is currently a senior at the University of Nevada, Reno pursuing a degree in marketing with a Spanish minor. Werschky has been competing with horses since she was eight years old and has been an active member of 4-H her whole life. She gets to use her influence as Miss Reno Rodeo to visit at-risk elementary schools providing books to young students and giving them lessons on the three R’s: reading, rodeo and responsibility. She also gets to travel to represent the Reno Rodeo at various rodeos and events all over the country, including the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

According to the Reno Rodeo, strong candidates for Miss Reno Rodeo are poised and elegant, but aren’t afraid to get their boots dirty. Miss Reno Rodeo has integrity, is honest and reliable and is also fun and charismatic. The Miss Reno Rodeo pageant represents decades of Nevada and Reno Rodeo history, and the 2017 Miss Reno Rodeo gets to be a part of that legacy. About the Reno Rodeo
The Reno Rodeo is a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) sanctioned sporting event, and one of the top five rodeos in North America.
