PUEBLO, Colo. – With a trip to the final round of bull riding at the 2018 National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyoming, on Friday, riders in Performances 10 and 11 made their outs count. Of the seven qualified rides earned across the final two groups, five of those scores advanced.

The high scores of the day belonged to Dalton Shepard and Briggs Madsen, who tied atop Performance 11 with 81 points. That not only tied them for the win of go-round 2, but it was good for a tie of eighth place in the aggregate, from which the Top 20 advance to Saturday’s final.

Performance 11 saw some of the strongest riding of the competition, with five qualified rides and no score below 74 points. Morgan Rising and Cody Hazelton tied for third with 75 points, tying them for 18th place in the aggregate, and Levi Johnson was right behind with 74 points.

Cam Rogers took the top spot in Performance 10, scoring 78 points, good for 14th place in the aggregate. Hayden Murphy was the only other rider to make the 8 seconds in that group, scoring 54 points.

With both go-rounds now finished, the Top 20 is set for the final round to decide the champion.

Austin Herrera won the aggregate with two qualified rides for 149 points, followed closely by Patterson Starcher with 146 points. The Top 5 was rounded out by Keenan Hayes (139), Koltin Hevalow (136) and Juro Hirata (115).
