Special Encore Presentation of Buckin’ the Odds – 30 Years of the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas Documentary Hosted & Narrated By Luke Perry To Air Sunday, March 15 on KLAS-TV Channel 8

Hour-long program to air starting at 4 p.m. PT following NCAA Selection Show

LAS VEGAS (March 9, 2015) – A special encore presentation of Buckin’ the Odds – 30 Years of the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, a special one-hour documentary produced to celebrate the impact of the world’s richest and most prestigious rodeo on the Entertainment Capital of the World, will air exclusively on KLAS-TV Channel 8 on Sunday, March 15 at 4 p.m. PT. The documentary will follow the NCAA Basketball Championship Selection Show.

The documentary originally aired in December on CBS Sports Network.

Buckin’ the Odds tells the story of how the NFR moved from Oklahoma City, landed in Las Vegas in 1985, grew to prominence and became one of the most iconic and significant special events for the destination. The story is told in chapters, capturing the unique stories of the rodeo competitors, event organizers and those within the rodeo industry. The program is hosted and narrated by Luke Perry.

Interviewees include Ty Murray, Trevor Brazile, Joe Beaver, Billy Etbauer, Cody Ohl, Charmayne James and Kaycee Feild, NFR General Manager Shawn Davis and PRCA Commissioner Karl Stressman. Las Vegas principals providing insight include Michael Gaughan, Rossi Ralenkotter, Bill Boyd, Jack Binion, Pat Christenson and Bill McBeath.

The program is co-written and produced by Executive Producer Jeff Medders of Geronimo Productions, in association with Las Vegas Events. Kirk Martindale, of RKM Productions, is the show’s co-writer, producer and director.

Local sponsors of the program include Boyd Gaming, The Mirage, MGM Grand, South Point and Treasure Island.

The Wrangler NFR will return to Las Vegas in December, running from Dec. 3 – 12 at the Thomas & Mack Center. All performances begin at 6:45 p.m.

The Wrangler NFR, known as the richest and most prestigious rodeo in the world, has sold out 280 consecutive performances and attracts the top 15 contestants in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding. Qualification is based on the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association World Standings.
