Teel Wins Round 1 in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. – Cody Teel (Kountze, Texas) won the first round of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) event at the Berglund Center Friday night.

Teel rode Blues Man (Davis Rodeo Ranch) for 87 points in Round 1, earning $800.

Tied for second place with 86.5 points were Brennon Eldred (Sulphur, Oklahoma), who rode Micro Man (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) and Tye Chandler (Celina, Texas), who rode Sin City (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls).

Josh Faircloth (Randleman, North Carolina) covered Small Time (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 86 points on his way to a fourth place finish in Round 1.

Sonny Schafferius (Dysart, QSD, Australia) rounded out the Top 5 with a score of 85.5 points on Little Hummer (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls).

Round 2 and the championship round will take place on Saturday night beginning at 7 p.m. ET. All 40 riders will get on one more bull to begin the night before the Top 10 riders advance to the championship round where the event winner will be crowned.

The 2017 Velocity Tour will culminate with the Velocity Tour Finals at South Point Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 28-30, leading into the PBR’s 2017 Built Ford Tough World Finals.

An hour-long highlight show of the RVT event in Roanoke will air on pbr.com and the PBR LIVE app on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
