The Keys to the 2017 Stampede Rotary Dream Home are Handed to Its Lucky New Owner!

Calgary, AB – The keys to the 2017 Stampede Lotteries Rotary Dream Home, built by Homes by Avi, are now in the hands of its lucky new owner. Gary Wakelam of Nanton, Alberta was officially awarded his new home today.

“We’re so excited to hand the keys to this beautiful home over to Mr. Wakelam and his family,” said Lynn Grant, 2017 chair of the Stampede Lotteries committee. “We would like to thank the Wakelam family and all of those that support the Stampede Lotteries. Proceeds from the lottery go directly back to our community and organizations that make a difference.”

From the money raised this year through the Stampede Rotary Dream Home lottery, Kinsmen Kars lotteries, Split’Em 50 and Grandstand 50/50, more than $1.4 million has been reinvested into the community through the Rotary Club of Calgary South, Kinsmen Club and the Calgary Marching Show Band Association.

For the Wakelam family winning the home is a dream come true. “As Albertans we have been supporting the Stampede Lotteries for years, because of the commitment it has to the community, plus it’s always nice to dream about the possibly winning one day,” said Gary Wakelam.

The 2017 Stampede Rotary Dream Home is a two-storey, 2,580 sq. ft. contemporary style home with Prairie elevation and is located in the Genstar community of Carrington. It is the largest home to ever be won in the Rotary Dream Home Lottery and for the first time, features a finished basement, bringing the total square footage to approximately 3,550 sq. ft.
