NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After the first two rounds of the PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) Jack Daniel’s Music City Knockout, presented by Cooper Tires, 12 of the 36 riders competing at Bridgestone Arena have directly advanced to Saturday’s Round 3.
Matt Triplett, the No. 3 ranked bull rider in the PBR world standings turned in the high-marked ride of the night as he advanced, picking up 88 points atop Going Fast (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls).
“You know, I had a bull that I knew nothing about, which is probably good for me.” Triplett said. “I’ve just been overthinking things and just trying too hard. I went at that bull like I did when I was younger – I just didn’t think about it and rode him jump for jump.”
Also advancing and competing with Triplett in Round 3 will be the PBR’s No. 1 bull rider Joao Ricardo Vieira, 2013 PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney, 2014 PBR Rookie of the Year J.W. Harris, Shane Proctor, Michael Lane, Fabiano Vieira, Stetson Lawrence, Reese Cates, Kaique Pacheco, Nathan Schaper and Tanner Byrne.
A Second Chance Bracket will also take place Saturday after Round 4 with the Top 8 scoring eliminated riders from Round 1- 4 filling those spots.
Riders who were completely eliminated without a chance to return include three-time PBR World Champion Silvano Alves, 2010 PBR World Champion Renato Nunes, Rubens Barbosa, Alexandre Cardozo, Dave Mason, Kasey Hayes, Ben Jones, Ryan Dirteater, Emilio Resende, Stormy Wing and Tyler Harr.
Round 3 of the Jack Daniel’s Music City Knockout will start at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, Aug. 22. All of the Round 3 action can be seen live on CBS Sports Network on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
CBS Television Network will air the final 12 rides of the competition on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. ET.
The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network and networks around the world.
Nashville is the 21st of 27 stops on the 2015 PBR Built Ford Tough Series schedule. The season will culminate with the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 21-25 when the 2015 PBR World Champion, the bull rider who earns the most points during the 2015 season, will receive the coveted World Championship belt buckle and a $1 million bonus.
BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
