Weekly Recap

Having only three PRCA events during the final week of October may sound scary, but the Halloween-season action was as sweet as usual with $288,783 in prize money up for grabs.

The fastest times and highest scores might not always make the record book, but they make a lasting memory for fans and competitors. With about 650 PRCA competitions across the Western Hemisphere each year, there are plenty of opportunities to make a memorable ride.

Although the prize money differs from one competition to the next, the judging remains consistent across the board.

In addition to the fame that comes with winning the most prize money, each ride was a chance to be the best of the week. Here’s a look at the highest scores and fastest times for each event during that period.

Two bareback riders scored 87 points each at the Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo in Indianapolis this week. Tanner Aus made his ride during the Oct. 24 bonus round on Three Hills Rodeo’s Big Show.

Blake Smith equaled Aus’ performance, and it wasn’t the first time this season Smith had an impressive ride. For the second week in a row, the bareback rider had one of the highest-scored rides of the week. On Oct. 19, he scored 85 points on Powder River Rodeo’s Joker at the NILE ProRodeo in Billings, Mont. Then on Oct. 25, he made an 87-point ride on Three Hills Rodeo’s Fantasia in Indianapolis. He returned for the bonus round that same day and scored yet another 87-point ride on Three Hills Rodeo’s Rocky.

The fastest steer wrestling runs of the week both happened in the second round of the RAM Mountain States Circuit Finals Rodeo in Loveland, Colo., Oct. 26. Beau Clark and Kalane Anders both clocked in at 3.6 seconds to split the win for the round.

Team ropers Garett Chick and J.W. Borrego made a 4.9-second run at the RAM MSCFR Oct. 26.

Saddle bronc rider Jake Finlay nailed two 87-point rides this week, both in Indianapolis, Oct. 26. His first ride came on Three Hills Rodeo’s Prom Night, before duplicating it the same day in the bonus round on Three Hills Rodeo’s All Country.

Tuf Cooper made a 7.5-second run in tie-down roping at The San Angelo (Texas) 65th Annual Cinch Roping Fiesta, Oct. 27.

Barrel racer Ivy Conrado clocked in at 15.40 seconds at the RAM MSCFR Oct. 27.

Steer roper Garrett made an 11.3-second run in San Angelo, Oct. 28.

Bull rider Clayton Sellars made an 89-point ride on Three Hills Rodeo’s Gypsy Wind during the Oct. 26 bonus round at Indianapolis.
