Weekly Recap

It’s go big or go home in the middle of September as the end of the regular season quickly approaches. Cowboys competed at 14 rodeos across North America, Sept. 10-16, worth $911,636 to try to secure a spot within the Top 15 to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

The fastest times and highest scores might not always make the record book, but they make a lasting memory for fans and competitors. With about 650 PRCA competitions across the Western Hemisphere each year, there are plenty of opportunities to make a memorable ride.

Although the prize money differs from one competition to the next, the judging remains consistent across the board.

In addition to the fame that comes with winning the most prize money, each ride was a chance to be the best of the week. Here’s a look at the highest scores and fastest times for each event during that period.

Bareback rider Bill Tutor had a 91.5-point ride on Pickett Rodeo’s Top Flight at the New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo in Albuquerque, N.M., Sept. 13.

Three steer wrestlers had runs of 3.6 seconds this week, and all of them happened at the West Texas Fair & Rodeo in Abilene, Sept. 13. This week’s fastest bulldoggers were Riley Duvall, Cameron Morman and Sam Powers.

Team ropers Clay Tryan and Travis Graves made a 3.8-second run in Abilene, Sept. 15.

Saddle bronc rider Allen Boore made a 90.5-point ride on Rosser Rodeo’s Yeti Rambler at the Marysville (Calif.) Stampede, Sept. 16.
