PUEBLO, Colo. ― Current PBR Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) rider and Texas native Stormy Wing came out victorious during the Mike White Invitational in DeKalb, Texas, on Friday. Wing was one of two riders to go 2-for-2 on the night, notching 88.5 points in the long round and 89.5 points in the short go for a total of 178 points and $2,915.50.
Simao da Silva (Coacatuba, Brazil) earned second place with 86.5 points in Round 1 while following it up with the only 90-point ride during the event. He finished with 176.5 points and $2,082.50.
Third place went to Jose Vieira (Joliet, Ill.), who also won the long round with 89 points for $1,249.50.
Fans that attended the Butte, Mont., TPD event this weekend at the Butte Civic Center watched Justin Granger (Tuba City, Ariz.) win $5,546.25 after picking up 87.5 points in the long round and 88 points in the short go for a total of 175.5 points and a first-place finish.
Clayton Savage (Cheyenne, Wyo.) placed second with 174.5 points for $3,672.00 and Austin Meier (Kinta, Okla.) took third with 171.5 points for $2,945.25.
Granger, along with Jordan Hupp who won the Rodeo All-Star event in Denver, Colo., this past weekend have each earned an alternate bid to the Built Ford Tough Series Des Moines Invitational in Iowa on April 26-27 at the Wells Fargo Arena.
The TPD will stop in California and Texas this weekend.
2004 World Champion Mike Lee, 2010 World Champion Renato Nunesand 2013 Rookie of the Year Joao Ricardo Vieira are all expected to compete during the Clovis Rodeo TPD event at the Clovis Rodeo Arena in Clovis, Calif., on Thursday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m.
Cowboy’s For Kids will begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at Johnson County Sheriff Posse Arena in Cleburne, Texas, featuring Jones, Meier and Budd Williamson (Ayr, Queensland).
