COLUMBIA, S.C. – In his career-first PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour event, Alan de Souza (Taubate, Brazil) went a flawless 2-for-2 to win the Carolina Classic inside Colonial Life Arena.

The only rider to cover both of his draws Saturday evening, Souza began just his third event on American soil with an 84.5-point trip on Podunk (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls). He sealed the win with a championship round-winning, 87-point ride aboard Pneu-Dart’s Coal Miner (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls).

For his efforts, the Brazilian sensation collected a check for $7,900 and 170 world points.

Marcus Mast (Middlebury, Indiana) finished second at the PBR’s first event in Columbia since 2012.

His runner-up effort, which netted him $4,700 and 140 world points, was backed by a win in Round 1, earned courtesy of his 88.5-point ride on Clemmons Time (Deer Prairie Creek Bucking Bulls).

Third went to Junio Quaresima (Meridiano, Brazil) who made the 8 on Hair Trigger (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 87.5 points in Round 1.

The bronze finish, his best thus far in 2019, marked his fourth Top-10 effort of the season. He leaves the Palmetto State with 80 world points and a check for $3,000.

Three riders, Andrew Alvidrez (Seminole, Texas), Kyle Jones (Troy, Missouri) and Zac Peterson (Velva, North Dakota), tied for fourth after each recorded matching 86-point scores in the first round.

Riding Slinger (Torres Brothers Bucking Bulls), Zacchaeus (Davis Rodeo Ranch/Fogle) and La Grande (Davis Rode Ranch/Speers), respectively, each cowboy earned $1,233.33 and 18.33 world points.

Alex Jenks (Vale, North Carolina), who finished seventh, was the final rider to earn world points for his performance in South Carolina. Covering Otis (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 85 points in the first round, the North Carolinian earned 5 world points and $420.

In the bull pen, Dang It (Davis Rodeo Ranch/Fogle) was named the high-marked bull of the event. Bucking in Round 1, the bovine athlete was marked 44.5 points for his 6.31-second buckoff of Stormy Wing (Dalhart, Texas).

PBR’s Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour next travels to Youngstown, Ohio and the Covelli Centre on January 25-26. Action for the Youngstown Invitational begins on Friday, January 25 at 8:00 p.m. ET and concludes on Saturday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
