By Ann Bleiker

Tiany Schuster

Tiany Schuster continued her hot winter in frigid Rapid City, S.D., for the first 2017 Wrangler Champions Challenge, presented by Justin Boots.

Schuster of Krum, Texas, is currently ranked No. 1 in the ProRodeo World Standings and added another $3,944 to her standings after rounding the cloverleaf pattern in a quick 12.67 seconds. She edged Lisa Lockhart, who finished second in a time of 12.94. Schuster was a member of Team Justin, while Lockhart is a drafted team member on B&W Trailer Hitches.

Other WPRA members that placed in the money included Jordan Moore with a 12.98, Jackie Ganter in 13.05 and Calyssa Thomas with a 13.16.

There are six WPRA members drafted for sponsor teams that will remain on that team for all Champions Challenge events this year. The others will be rotated and be based on 2017 standings 14 days prior to the event.

The six WPRA members that are guaranteed a spot on the 2017 Tour include:

  • Lisa Lockhart – B&W Trailer Hitches
  • Kimmie Wall – Coors
  • Amberleigh Moore – Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Bureau (LVCVA)
  • Pamela Capper – PRCA Venue
  • Jackie Ganter – Ram
  • Ivy Conrado – Wrangler

The current events on the 2017 schedule include:

  • Rapid City, S.D. – Feb. 1
  • Grand Island, NE – March 3
  • Redding, CA – May 20
  • Santa Maria, CA – June 1
  • Spanish Fork, UT – June 3
  • Finale – Sioux Falls, S.D. – Sept. 29-30

All money won on the Wrangler Champions Challenge Tour will count toward the 2017 WPRA World Standings.
